My husband and I stayed at the George & Dragon for two nights last weekend. We were attending a wedding locally and as we live in London, stayed two nights. We didn't arrive until 9.30pm on the Friday but found the staff welcoming and helpful, the manager walked us all the way to our room, showing us around. We had... more

We stayed in a "superior room??? (Its a mismatch of colours, broken lamp shades, a mixture of wire and plastic coat hangers in a wardrobe with a non closing door, unvacumned carpets and a Sofa and chair from a 'sue ryder shop')on a saturday night for a last minute treat, we should have taken the hint that everywhere was full... more

We have just returned from a night away here.It was a last minute decision and we were very limited with where to stay. These had a room, after discussing the rooms on the phone the receptionist said the superior rooms were recently refurbished and much bigger with more amenties. At £100 we booked it. On arrival at what can only... more

Didn't actually stay here this year although we have in the past. The rooms are very average, clean but tired (maybe they've been done up but I doubt it). There was a mix up with the booking & they were still going to charge the full rate for a single room although we weren't going to need it. They did... more

My husband and I stayed at this place for a friend's wedding, and wished we hadn't! Our room (we paid £100 for a superior) was ok but not great. Reasonably clean and spacious but really dated (wood chip on the walls, awful bed spread and two ridiculously oversized arm chairs which i think were meant to make it 'superior'). might... more

Used a hotel booking website to book into the hotel for 1 night. When we arrived they had no record of the booking, but luckily had a room available anyway. It turned out that the booking had been faxed to the managers office, but the manager was away and had left no means for the staff to gain access. A... more

We booked a night in this hotel after seeing the website. I asked for a superior room as we fancied a treat and the pics on the website looked really nice. When we arrived we collected the keys and went throught the car park to the accomodation block. The smell then hit us, the carpets were threadbare and musty, the... more

This was the most disappointing hotel stay I have had for many many years. At £130/night in the off-season, I expected much better. Mismatched funiture from the 70's makes it look like a car boot/garage sale exploded on the room. Interior wood-chip makes this feel cheap. The photos on their web-site are quite misleading, especially since most rooms are in... more

"Superior" Room at £100 a night - well over priced Shabby\poor rooms - flooding outside our room left unattended so we had to paddle in and out! Dinner - very hit and miss - I left most of mine - my poor husband was on the loo all night and too ill to eat his breakfast - shame as this... more

My friend and i were accomodated in different blocks which was disappointing. The disappointment didn't end there, when, after a long trudge to our rooms, we found that they were tiny, tatty, dated and musty. Stained walls, broken windows, curtains hanging off rails, trickling ancient showers and my tv was so old it was operated by a push/pull button! The... more
