We were traveling with kids and my patents. Really good one. And of course not so cheap- but people, it is Norway. Nothing is cheap here :) Beds were a bit too little for sleeping with kids, but they really do serve a royal breakfast!

No nonsense, you get what you pay for. Rooms ok, bathrooms not the newest - but ok (our friends bathroom flooded, but that should be fixed by now). OK breakfast Payment at check-in meant NO one there when we left - made it hard to complain about the party on the first floor that went on during the night... Hotels... More

Thank you for your review, We do not understand your comment on the bathrooms not being so new.In fact they were completely new from the beginning of June. Your friends bathroom had a defect vent which has now been replaced and we are sorry for the inconvenience. The party that you wanted to complain about were a pensioner couple from... More

So said Eli, the proprietress as she visited with us after a good breakfast. She has had the hotel for 30 years and comes from the town. Valldal is a fundamentally Norwegian fjord town. The buildings were perfectly maintained. The rooms, while small suited our purpose and were immaculate. Wi-fi functioned well, contrary to a room we stayed in the... More

My brother and I stayed two nights while travelling to visit family in the area. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, at this unique place. Beautiful area in back of hotel with live music in the summer. Would stay here again!

This is a good base for exploring the area. The staff are helpful and friendly, the rooms very comfortable and clean. Food is ok; the hotel has a pleasant atmosphere. I would stay there again without a doubt. Lots of great scenery around and trips to take in the area.

Stopped here for one night break along the orenevegen/trollstigen route. Rooms are simple but that's just how it should be in that sort of small-town location. And we found ours spotlessly clean. Friendly reception and the breakfast was good - decent choice and some items were clearly homemade. Yes the village in itself has limited appeal, but it's bang in... More

Service and quality of food in the (fish) restaurant is excellent. We got accomodation in the annex which is simple but ok. Nice and quiet location with a wonderful garden. Price is at the upper limit of comparable hotels in the Norwegian fjord land. Advertized sauna was not available.

My girlfriend and i spend one night at Fjellro turisthotell on our way to Geirangerfjorden. The rooms are quiet basic but clean and have all the basics. The food at the restaurant was poor and pricy. Valldal as a small town and the location for the hotel is beautiful. Overall it`s a ok place to stay for one night.

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Fjellro Hotel for two nights on our way from the coast to Oslo. Our goal was to see as much natural beauty as possible and our stay at Fjellro was a good fit. The staff gave great advice on a hike to a hidden waterfall (not really a secret, but you have to... More

We stayed for four nights; we are a family of four, with one 8 year old and a 9 month old. It’s a very nice friendly place, not to mention very clean. Rooms were cleaned every day. They were very helpful, and they knew lot about the surrounding as the owners are from the local area. Very good wi-fi connection... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Fjellro is one of the protected original buildings in the old street "Syltegata", which gives the street its charm and character. The hotel has been run by the same family for many years, giving it a homely atmosphere and best possible personal service. Proud Sylte mountain rises directly from the bottom of the garden creating a special atmosphere both of dramatics and calm. Our garden is the ideal place for you who want to relax a while from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Here you can let your children play freely, well protected from the busy main road. If you need a break and somewhere to relax while contemplating the impressions of the day - Fjellro is the place, centrally situated in the heart of The Golden Route beside the national tourist highway. Our hotel is a great starting point for those who want to explore the mountains and fjords of one of the most beautiful areas in Western Norway. From here you can visit unique mountain farms, try white water rafting, fish in the fjord and rivers, take a guided tour along the famous Geiranger fjord, follow mountain trails for a few hours or many days, sleeping over in special guest cabins. ... more   less
