The name of this hotel has been changed and is in New ownership. Please check it out. Had a look at it and it looks much better than the last ownership have. We would like to have people visit our town.

Have to say this is not the place to stay if you want a good nights sleep or help of any sort from any at this place, reception just up and leave when they like, no porter, bouncer!!!!!!! more interested in chasing skirt than helping residents with their many problems. my advice- its only another 20mins either way to Tullamore... I had the misfortune of staying here. Terrible hotel. Small, pokey, cold rooms that stink of damp. rude staff whenever you are lucky enough to find one. Very little noise insulation so everything from the main road can be heard in the room. Best avoided.

Can't describe how bad this place is. Genuinely I would never stay here again. Really disappointing service and staff were rude also. Such a pity given its the only hotel in the town! It doesn't take much to treat customers with respect but the door staff of the niteclub especially need a serious training session in customer service.

The East End hotel is currently closed as of November 2012. It really needs a huge overhaul if someone is ever going to make a go of it again. Pity as Portarlington hasn't another hotel. It has a good location and plenty of parking but large money will be needed if it is ever to be viable again.

It has actually closed down now (September 2012). It has never had that great a reputation in Portarlington, which is a shame considering it is very centrally located. It has changed owner several times in the last few years. I suppose that itself should tell you what it's like! P.S I never stayed in a room here, rather I have... More

First off, the chap at the check-in desk was playing with his computer on Facebook. Got the keys, opened the door and bang . . . . .back in time to 1990. Room was aged, draughty window, bathroom quite dreary, with a cheap handsoap on the sink. No plug for the sink, and terrible tap fixtures. Carpets were old as... More

Stayed here for a family get together! where to start? First when we arrived we where asked to pay on arrival we wondered why but soon found out! When we got to the room it was filthy! Dirty clothes in the wardrope (and when I say clothes I mean UNDERWEAR), beds were made with dirty and soiled linen, when the... More
