I had the Chawton Room up in the eves with a spectacular view across the fields, a lovely bath ensuite with plenty of hot water. Lovely extras like biscuits in a little jar & tea & coffee as well as 2 apples. Very friendly staff and a lovely breakfast too, all in all a great stay and I'd love to... More

We booked at the Trooper as we were going to a wedding nearby in Froxfield. What a joy. We arrived for a prebooked lunch with the rest of our party and were given a lovely table by the Fire. The staff could not have been more helpful and welcoming. We had the most delicious light lunch and drinks. Our rooms... More

The Country and Coach Inns of England are a great way to see the countryside, enjoy the English culture and cast yourself back into days gone by, when the stables still existed and the ride was much rougher. The Trooper is one of those places and not far off the beaten track, it is an excellent place to hang your... More

Me and my partner stayed at the Tropper inn for 1 night as we had a party in Hawkley, we stayed in EMPSHOTT room, check in and out was very quick and efficient with a friendly smile. The room was clean and a nice size overlooking the front out on to open fields, the bed was lovely and comfortable and... More

I stayed in the Trooper Inn whilst on a biking (motor) tour of the South & East. There did not appear to be very much around, the place being the only habitation in sight; however I did not really go out and explore. My room was 'Oakshott' - a double booked for single occupancy. The room was quite small without... More

We stopped off for a drink to see if it was worth going back to for a meal and we were very pleased that we did. Although it was quiet - in between the food serving times - we were able to sit in the lovely well maintained gardens and have a quiet drink. The feel of this pub is... More

Everything was fab especially for my stay on business - however I would also take my partner here as a vacation stay! Nice country hotel/pub with a great ambience of old charms and antiques; with classic characters dotted around everywhere!! Bedrooms are not driectly above pub - more to side of pub on second floor and great view of a... More

Stayed in the hotel for one night. The staff are friendly and although the rooms are a bit dated, they are well maintained and you feel like it's been cared for. The restaurant food was lovely although very expensive, but they very evidently do employ an experienced chef. The breakfast was also very nice. What stops me from rating this... More

We stayed here mid July-14 as we were attending a wedding reception at the nearby Langrish House. We booked quite late directly with the hotel and got an OK deal, our room was the Stoner room on the ground floor which was a standard twin but a disabled room which was fine with us. The Trooper has a great beer... More

I have been to The Trooper more times than I can remember - New Year's Eve, quiet dinners, noisy dinners or just a pint. So, it was the obvious choice for a celebration. Hassan, Sarah and the team were simply fantastic and helped us organise a really memorable event. We occupied all the excellent, well-appointed and very comfortable rooms and... More
