The look and feel of this hotel is definately still "Surf Camp". I'm not sure about the other hotels in Santa Catalina but if you are looking for anything "posh" or nice, this is not the place to stay. Honestly, if you aren't 100% in love with the surfing lifestyle, Santa Catalina is probably not for you. On a positive... More

Hotel is very well run, rest is supreme, and the rooms are great. Be warned that this city is a little bit off the grid (no ATMs in town), and no high-speed wi-fi. You'll be able to check your mail, and that is about it. Definitely a gem in Panama, and worth organizing a tour through them for Coiba Island. More

We only stayed there for one night but have no complaints. The staff is great and the rooms are spacious and clean. One thing to note is that Santa Catalina is VERY small. We didn't stay long because we're not surfers and you can see all you want to see after one day of diving. Highly recommend visiting Isla Coiba.... More

As we could not check-in into our booked accommodation we decided to go to the Hotel Santa Catalina and it was a very good choice. The rooms are very spacious and very clean, especially to mention are the very comfortable mattresses.Breakfast was very good and around the hotel, in walking distance, were different delicious places to have dinner. A special... More

After the long trek from Panama City by bus/taxi this was just what we needed! Great place to stay with really great rooms. The AC is awesome, and the beds are the best we stayed on in country. Staff is great and the atmosphere is very relaxed. We only ate breakfast there, but the smoothies were excellent (as were the... More

Can't flaw this place. Best location in town if you are there to surf, spotless and best standard in town, Shenida who looks after the place is super nice and a hottie. The only thing I could suggest is more varied menu. More

My wife and I spent a week zigzagging between Panamanian beaches (Las Lajas, Santa Catalina, Venao and Isla Grandes). Of the four, Santa Catalina was the most disappointing destination without doubt. As another reviewer mentioned, the nearby beach is mostly volcanic rock and the restaurants and mini-markets in the town itself are very unhygienic (and as a former Peace Corps... More

Thank you for the good review of our hotel. I assume this guest did not spend enough time in Santa Catalina to really get to know what it offers, and it is not surprising because based on the comment that they visited several other beach towns very distanced from each other, it seems they were in a rush to visit... This hotel is newly remodeled and previous lilpinkbird review accurately describes the premises and room- very clean and comfortable. However Santa Catalina central - which is location of most of the restaurants- was dirty, extremely litttered, and had no taxis so we had to walk from the bus station at least 1/2 mile to the hotel- which may be a... First, thank you for the good review of our hotel. I assume this guest did not spend enough time to really get to know Santa Catalina. I would just like to clarify a few items that I disagree with this person on: 1) Although the beach front of our hotel is volcanic reef and sand with an incredible surf break... More

My friends & I fled here in the middle of the night after our original & much more expensive rental place turned out to be a nightmare when we checked in (cockroach & ants in bed!) & the property manager was kind & welcoming. The place is small with only 6 rooms but is on a large property, with its... More

My wife and I spent 4 days here, and it was a really good experience, they are right on the surf point with a nice clean lawn going down to the beach where my wife hung out sun tanning while I surfed. The rooms had really comfortable beds, nice bathrooms, refrigerator in the room was convenient to store our beer... More
