The hotel has been beautifully restored from an old mill. The rooms are full of character and the facilities excellent. The staff were most helpful. The only criticsm we had was the difficulty in finding the hotel. Signposting is poor and the sat nav co-ordinates did not work. When we arrived we didn't recognise it as a hotel as again... More

AWESOME (says our 8 year old). We spent three weeks in Spain and our three kids found this to be the best place of all the places we stayed. We are inclined to agree. We had the room with the loft bedroom with an extra folding bed. This was a bit small for five, but OK for us as we... More

We stayed here 3 nights as part of a tour of Northern Spain. Finally found the hotel after getting lost even with a sat nav. Check route thoroughly before going, it is not easy to find and we are experienced travellers! Not signposted, or at least we didn't find it. Once we arrived, we were greeted with a lovely lady... After getting a bit lost (don't approach from the south like we did, go from Lugo and you'll be fine!) we were delighted to turn up and wind down in this lovely rural small hotel. It's a gorgeous spot by the Mino river where you can walk, swim, sunbathe and generally relax. Rooms are in old farmhouse, converted to a... More

Casa Grande's location is hard to beat, close by the river Mino and the extensive forest beside the river. Our room was on the ground floor, and while rustic and charming, was dark and on the small side. The windows were small, as befits a nineteenth century building, but the thickness of the walls did keep the room cool. Dinner... More

We found this beautiful place off the beaten track in a natural tranquil setting.. the rooms we had were comfortable and pretty and the views from every spot were just gorgeous. Norman and his staff were very charming and the food was terrific. We did the 15kms walk to Lugo along the river one day and we found the whole... More

We stayed for four nights in this calm and magical place. Norman Perez was an excellent host making sure that we really enjoyed our stay. He produced excellent gluten free meals for one of our party. We all enjoyed the delicious food and wine. The walks in the flooded forest and along the river towards Lugo were beautiful and a... More

My wife and I stayed at A Fervenza for two nights in mid-November and wish we had stayed for longer. The property is beautiful, particularly the river and surrounding forest. The manager, Mr. Norman Perez, is a warm and generous host. The food, wine and service were superb. Any bird watchers out there might be interested to know that we... More

Reviews for Casa Grande da Fervenza are a bit like London buses; none since August 2008 but then three come along at once – and all from UK residents! Don’t know why that should be; perhaps a recent plug in the Guardian newspaper for the Alistair Sawdays’ travel guides which has a very positive review? Anyway, I find myself more... More

We had a wonderful night at A Fervenza and we struggle to see what some of the previous reviewers have been complaining about. The service we received was very friendly and prompt, and as for facilities - this out of the way hotel has a restaurant, bar, swimming pool, walks from the doorstep, canoe hire, bike hire, a lounge and...
