If you're going to Salisbury on vacation, most likely you're looking for stunning architecture (Stonehenge, Old Sarum, Salisbury Cathedral etc) in a beautiful country-but-not-too-country landscape. This was, to me, the best thing about Grasmere - an unassuming, manor-style hotel in very nicely landscaped grounds (even the parking lot in the front), right next to the River Avon. Perfect for warm,... more

This is a very pleasant hotel on the outskirts of town. We had a superia room, which was very spacious and clean and a door which led out onto the gardens. A lovely well kept garden with the river at the end and views across to the cathedral. The breakfast was fine, which offered the usual cereals, fruit, yoghurts and... more

Grasmere House is a Mansion style Hotel on the South side of Salisbury. The original house (built in 1896) has been extended by the addition of a modern wing to the side and a large conservatory style extension to the North side (facing the City) that contains the function and restaurant areas. There is a homely lounge and a small... more

The hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful. I requested a room with a view and it couldn't have been better; we had a room looking out on the garden and river with a forest on the other side and the cathedral spire rising up out of the tress. The room was clean and well-appointed with a well-kept bathroom. The... more

On the web it says a 4* hotel, in the hotel brochure it says a 3* hotel and at 125.00 per night in this location its a complete rip off, our first night they messed up our booking with a poor room with the bathroom being old brown bath with mirrors that you saw your stomach in. We changed rooms... more

We had a lovely one night stay in a "luxury" room with river and cathedral view. The room and beds (it was a converted twin) were gigantic, it could easily have taken a full family. We didn't try the restaurant, but the breakfast buffet was fine - nothing special, but not as bad as some have described here. By far... more

I have to say that after reading the reviews for this hotel I was not looking forward to staying at the Grasmere hotel, how wrong I was! The hotel is in a perfect location with fantastic views of Salisbury cathedral. It is a short, safe, flat, well lit 15 minute walk into the heart of Salisbury itself. I booked the... more

This is a nice guest house. It had a very comfortable vibe. The good points include: very nice staff, beautiful grounds, near the river with a great view of the Cathedral Spire, nice quick walk into town either through the pastures or through a quaint neighborhood, breakfast was good, room was spacious. Negative points: the place is a bit tired... more

Hair, eggshell, undercooked food and a large insect on the plate in five separate course over two days. Although the management were suitably apologetic following our complaints it really put us off and we cancelled the second week of our stay. Not recommended. more
