This lodge has a lovely location, situated half way between Kaiteriteri and Marahau with stunning views all around. It has been well thought out and has everything you need, a large lounge area with TV (& DVD's ), a telescope & a wood burner stove and a huge well equipped kitchen area with a great coffee machine. The bedrooms have... More

Split Apple Lodge is a purpose-build B&B, at the top of a hill with spectacular views. It has large bedrooms and spacious common areas. Continental breakfast is well done. Burt and Paulette are friendly and helpful. The grounds are a gardeners delight though the American Quail love the vegetable garden.

Thanks to Paula and Bert for an amazing stay. You might come to Split Apple lodge for the location and the views (and they are breathtaking!), but you'll regret leaving after their amazing welcome and hospitality.

We staid 2 nights in novembre with Paula and Bert. We had an amazing time. The living room is spacious, there is a kitchen that we can use freely, the bedrooms are pretty and comfortable. But the most of place is the outdoor, you are in the middle of forest, there is a beautiful terrace to admire the view and... More

The vistas are gorgeous. It is hard to beat looking at the mountains everyday. The Bert and Paulette are wonderful gracious host. They make you feel at home immediately and interacted with you to help plan your activities. The lodge is beautiful. One is very close to restaurants and to the National park. They have lived in the area and... More

We stayed here for a night during our driving tour of New Zealand. The Lodge is very nicely appointed and the rooms are comfortable. As it was winter Bert had heaters going for us in the room and fire in the main room making the whole place cozy warm on a cool night. Bert was a great host and a... More

We arrived late in the day and after dark. We had driven from Hokitika and made a number of stops along the way. We appreciated Paulette and Bert letting us know that we should stop for dinner before we arrived since we were so late. It was a very wet evening and it seemed like a long trip up the... More
