We arrived late in the day and after dark. We had driven from Hokitika and made a number of stops along the way. We appreciated Paulette and Bert letting us know that we should stop for dinner before we arrived since we were so late. It was a very wet evening and it seemed like a long trip up the... More

We stayed for one night on our trip round South Island. It was the most glorious location with marvellous views. The room was spacious and the breakfast delicious. We did feel, however, that it was slightly overpriced. There were several rather loud Americans staying and we felt a little as if we were intruding on their exclusive party. Nevertheless it... More

Paulette and Bert were wonderful, welcoming hosts. Split Apple Lodge provided a peaceful break in an amazing hill top location giving awesome views over sea and mountains. Truly lovely. So glad we found it.

I stayed here with my wife about a month ago (Feb 2014), for two nights. It was fantastic. It's situated in an elevated position, with great views of the bay on one side, and mountains on the other. So peaceful. Paulette and Bert were more than welcoming. They were keen to help plan our adventures (without being overbearing or interfering... More

We stayed for a nights in Split Apple. From the outset the owners Paulette and Bert were most welcoming - greeting us outside as we pulled up. We had telephoned to say we would be a little late in arriving which wasn't a problem. They have renovated it themselves to a very high quality. Maximum of 12 guests, you feel... More

Very modern spacious B&B with access to Abel Tasman area. Lovely great room and outside areas. A little tricky to find but worth it. Breakfast is cold buffet. Cereals, fruit, yogurt and bread. Only two restaurants in nearby town.

We had two great night at the Split Apple Lodge for our visit to Abel Tasman. Our host, Bert, made us feel at home and provided great suggestions for which activities to choose. Our room was large with a nice patio overlooking the bay. The guest lounge was very attractive and spacious and well used by guests in the evening.... More

I've always been a bit suspicious of reviews like the one I'm about to write, but words can't describe how beautiful, luxurious and friendly this place is. All I can do is to echo (and amplify) the praise that others have already given it. Our hosts are unbelievably generous, the standard of everything is superb, and the sheer beauty of... More

Paulette and Bert looked after us so well - caring and attentive never intrusive or demanding. It's more than a B&B it offers a spacious lounge, TV, DVDs, free WiFi, a well equipped kitchen, a telescope and plenty of places outdoors to eat, drink and chat. The place sit on a hill and has great views. It's simple, spacious, isolated... More
