My fiancee and I spent two nights at this Parador and it was absolutely wonderful. We had a room in the tower and it was the only room (in the tower) with a large window facing the town of Alarcon. It was really a stunning place to stay and a highlight of our 10 day trip to Spain. Not only... more

The drive up the the Castle (originally an Arab fortress) is incredible. It stands out of the ledge of the city of Alarcon with commanding views across the valley below it and the plains surrounding it. We reserved the Young Persons Rate through the Paradores-Spain website, and found it to be a terrific deal. Upon check in we were welcomed... more

Its not very often that you can play king for a night, luckily by staying in this castle keep you live out part of the fantasy. A small hotel 14 rooms all built into the keep of a castle, we stayed in a superior room which took up the whole of the 3rd floor, with walls 4 feet thick and... more

We have just toured 5 paradors & this one was the absolute best without a doubt! The location is fantastic & we were lucky to be able to stay in the tower (room 104) which was marvellous. You can just feel the history! Also luckily for us the weather turned for the better just as we arrived - it had... more

This is a must for the traveler who want to do something that most tourists don't do!!! Wow. We took the train to Cuenca from Madrid which leaves from Atocha Station. Rented a Car at the train station in Cuenca. Europcar. Then we took off. The only thing we would do differently is to stop at the tourist information center... more

The parador in Alarcon is a place we'll remember fondly for its sense of history and its tranquillity. Great attention has been paid to the room amenities, decor, and public areas: it is a luxurious environment. There are only 14 rooms available in this 12th-century castle, and we felt almost like personal guests at a grand manor. The location is... more

This is an astonishing place to stay. Words can't describe your first view of the castle/parador as you arrive. If you've ever dreamed of sleeping in a beautiful castle in a gorgeous setting, this is the place. What's amazing about it, besides the lovely way that they have preserved the castle, is how unbelievably undeveloped the tiny town is that... more

Unless you own your own castle this is as good as it gets. The facilities are excellent as whoever did the renovation clearly went all out. As you drive across the open countyside the castle becomes visable in the distance, and as you arrive, the winding one lane road passes through the exterior walls, with sheer dropoffs on either side.... more

Viewed by the arriving traveller, this is the most attractive/spectacular parador in Spain. It is the castle which for centuries has dominated this small and still relatively unspoilt village with a lot to see and great walks around. Alarcon is one of the most impressive villages in Spain, on a high crag, ringed by walls and dominated by the parador.... more

What a wonderful place - very atmospheric, friendly and polite staff, wondeful food (it's worth going a la carte for dinner). The breakfast was very generous (I've never eaten so many pastries....) and the cooked options were great (eg scabbled egg with mushroom) although with garlic so not for the faint hearted at 9am! My room was one with the... more
