We have had excellent lunches here a few times over the years, but this was our second stay here. We had Room 12, which features on the Inn's front page on their website. Extremely comfortable, excellent facilities. Very friendly staff and room service. We had supper in the bar area, with a couple of friends. We had the scallops on... More

This is a wonderful place for a wedding. There's a lovely church next door and the setting is so unusual. Apart from being charming and very pretty, it's also peaceful because it's surrounded by such lovely far reaching views of water, trees and fields. The hotel itself is its on a quiet road and is a lovely old building which... More

Superb , historic location excelling with it's food at lunch and dinner, but breakfast offering poor. But beware…..residents are not guaranteed a table in the bar but need to join the scrum for the 7.30pm first dinner orders. A more formal setting in the main restaurant can be pre booked. No help with cases to the room which I would... More

Thank you for your review, I think! You very much should have been offered help to your room with the cases, sorry that you wren't. Whilst it's right that we use antiques in our rooms and love old Victorian baths, all radiators have thermostats with the exception of towel rails. Regards Cb More

Our third visit to this delightful inn with our dogs and enjoyed every bit as much as before. We love the public areas and especially the views from the restaurant. Our room in the coach house was large and supremely comfy and we felt very at home with our two poodles. It's a place to truly relax and the walks... More

Thank you very much for your lovely review, the atmosphere of a proper Inn is difficult to define but that's sort of right, although you can be a terrier or child too or both! Thank you again. Regards Cb More

This is one of the great country inns of Britain, feels like an Edwardian shooting lodge with a fantastic country atmosphere, lavish but comfortable and very relaxing. I read the Times whilst waiting for my sirloin stake which didn't take long to arrive and was cooked to perfection, in the corner a springier spaniel was fast asleep oblivious to my... More

Had great expectations, loved the location/views. Disappointment with several aspects spoiled our experience. Room stiflingly hot (other reviewers have commented), only one of the windows would open (= uncomfortable night's sleep - should offer fans); TV poor reception/kept cutting out. Bar/restaurant: the Inn is 'dog friendly' but unacceptable that dogs allowed into restaurant area of the bar. Chose our table... More

So sorry you didn't enjoy your stay with us. Dogs are part of a country inn or at least this one. But it should be possible to avoid confrontation as we have lots of space. Regards Cb More

We have visited Whitewell on two occasions now. It had been very highly recommended by many people, and I have to say first time round I was disappointed. The staff were inefficient and lacked basic knowledge of the food (didn't know if the salad was dressed?). It took far too long for our table to be cleared of both starters... More

So pleased you came twice and thank you for your review. We do table service in the dining room at night but bar food and all the associated informality is defined by ordering and eating in the bar, quite casual and very much what we do. i very much hope we see you again. Regards Cb More

We came for lunch on Easter Sunday and it was lovely, but not cheap but good tasty food. We then stayed over night on a Saturday in July while attending a wedding. The wedding was fantastic and the Inn at Whitewell is a superb venue for this. Everything ran to plan and the food was outstanding. Now, you're probably why... More

Many thanks for your review and I am so pleased you had a good previous lunch and enjoyed the wedding. Preferred rates for groups are ideal for big hotels keen to fill as many of their rooms as possible but we have only 23 and are always over subscribed for weekends. Regards Cb More

Lovely food, great service and fantastic setting. It's the top end of the pay scale for what is essentially gastro pub for, but, WOW! We were part of a group with fussy eaters and those who wished to have different experiences. Unusually, we were all satisfied. Thank you

Our expectations were high but the hotel, staff and surrounds far exceeded them. We stayed one night in Room 22 in the Coach house which was perfect as we could park right outside our own front door with our Italian Greyhound more than welcome too. The room was akin to those featured in 'World of Interiors' magazine and we must... More
