We stayed here recently having heard good things from friends and having seen reviews in the Sawdays guides which have never let us down in the past. Unfortunately we were not very impressed due to the following reasons: 1 - Some (not all staff) staff were quite snobby and unapproachable. For example when we arrived we obviously didn't know where... More

Our Birthday party travelled from Blackpool on the recommendation of one of the group. The Inn at Whitewell was extremely busy, but we were allocated a room to ourselves. On the plus side that meant we had privacy o. The negative, when two of our group needed to question a meal we had to wait a long time before anyone... More

Was recently treated to a night away at this lovely inn. The weather was glorious and the fabulous terrace out at the back with stunning view over the gently rolling countryside and river is the perfect place to sit and relax, with pre-dinner drink or just to while away an hour or two. We chose one of the smaller rooms... More

Been thinking of staying here for some time but never quite got round to it, till now! Excellent place, bar was good, room was good, restaurant superb - all in all the perfect country hotel. The bar was lively, presumably with a few locals and the staff were great. Minor hiccup with a table booked in the restaurant but that... More

What everyone needs, beautiful country pub, everything you would expect and more. Stayed for one night in a fantastic room overlooking the river and countryside, period furniture, great bed. Food was great and worth the money, wine!! like a kid in a sweet shop too many to choose. lovely walks in the surrounding area. Staff were OK could do with... More

Visited the inn due to it's stunning location and because we wanted a couple of days decent walking. Everything was very nice - welcome from the staff, nice meal in the restaurant and extensive bar and wine list. Dinner was lovely, breakfast fine. We were offered a pot of tea by lovely receptionist on arrival. Room was small but comfortable... More

Thank you for your review. We are quite traditional but it doesn't seem there are many proper old inns left, I hope we aren't the last of a breed. Thanks again. Regards Cb More

This has got to be my favourite Hotel .. Living nearby we go for a meal probably once a month in all the different seasons, so decided as a Birthday treat to stay the night. From the moment you arrive with the lovely welcome and stunning views and roaring log fires around you can't help but relax even when it's... More

We have stayed at the Inn five times now..we consider it home.So does our lab, who accompanies us each time. The area is secluded, rugged and wonderful. Mobile phones don't work there...it's a joy. The wifi is flacky...which means I switch off and unwind...we walk...and walk...and then have a fab meal in the 'no frill's, just great food restaurant'. The... More

Visited on the 28/03/15 in the evening and the Inn was very busy and the weather atrocious, so the planned walk was shelved Food was delicious and the service as good as ever, despite the fact it was very busy indeed.
