The Inn is very much out of the way, but a pleasant and secluded spot. We stopped for coffee, but had one of the puddings, which was excellent. It is very welcome that dogs are allowed, as there are so many places where this is not possible. This is an old-fashioned but very comfortable building, with various rooms in which... More

Stayed for 2 nights (27th & 28th August) my wife took me and my English Springer Spaniel Tim as a surprise treat for my 65th Birthday. Our room (23) in the coach house was ideal for the dog it had a small enclosed yard a gate led to open grass land which time really enjoyed. The room was comfortably furnished... More

What more can I say? Visited the Inn for the first, but definitely not the last, time today (26 Aug 2014). Set by the river it exudes old world comfort, peace and charm. Whilst we only went for lunch I have no doubt the other meals are just as tempting and tasty. Recommend a visit by anyone.

Another fabulous experience at The Inn however one of the bartender's service was not of the expected standard. Unwelcoming and forcesius, his manner was not acceptable. In addition the Prawn salad was not great, more like a small shrimp salad. Larger prawns and more thought into the salad for future will serve The Inn and it's customers better I feel!... More

Thank you for your review and you constructive comments, they are very much noted and appreciated. I quite understand your point about bread and butter but worry it's a bit restuiarnty, I don't want to lose the the ad hoc nature of the Inn, walk fish pie and glass of burgundy wearing your wellies. Thank you. Regards Cb More

We spent a night there last week to celebrate our wedding anniversary; it was the perfect setting. We had a lovely room overlooking the river Hodder -which we crossed by stepping stones on a walk in the afternoon. Our room-room 7 had the highest 4 poster bed I have ever slept in-as I am 5ft 9in didn't quite need the... More

As soon as you see the Inn, you feel like you have gone back in time. The approach down the country lanes brings a variety of tremendous views across the Vale of Bowland. The outside of the Inn, looks old, but we'll kept. As you step in the door, the lounge feels welcoming. Perhaps due to the Sunday papers laid... More

Had a really enjoyable overnight stay, the staff were friendly and not intrusive, we had a lovely view onto the river from our room which added to the ambience the food was lovely in the restaurant and we would highly recommend it, but the bottle of wine that we ordered at the table was £22 we then picked it up... We have just stayed for two nights for a family wedding. We had room 15 with the wonderful river views. The room was clean and comfortable with so much style. After an earlier phone call in which I managed to completely confuse the young lady on reception, the staff could not have been more helpful, from carrying bags to our room and immediately supplying us with tea, coffee and fresh oatcakes. This is what has impressed us most on both occasions we have stayed here, the friendliness and professionalism of... More

We have had excellent lunches here a few times over the years, but this was our second stay here. We had Room 12, which features on the Inn's front page on their website.
