We booked two days away to celebrate my 50th birthday on the recommendation of my partner who had been before. I wasn't disappointed, A truly unique, terrific hotel which was relaxed and convivial with first-rate, friendly service. Plus it is the most doggy-friendly hotel I have ever come across - which was greatly appreciated by our Labrador Sassie! The decor... More

Absolutely love this place. Family meal which was the best ever. Warm beef salad was exceptional as was the rest of the food we had. Was very very busy and we had to sit on the only table available which was near the door, quite cold. Will arrive earlier next time to sit by the lvly fires they have. Will... More

I admit the Inn at Whitewell is one of my favourite places in the world. We married here on a cold November day in 2012 and visit as much as possible for lunch or a drink or to stay when we can fit it in. We managed to have time for a Sunday night stopover this month and it was... More

My son took me to lunch and pick this place. We ordered a light lunch me pate and my son ordered soup. The pâté was a little salty and I would add a very big portion. The soup was good and the bread exceptional as were the chips. Staff professional friendly and attentive. But the real treat here is the... More

Three of us had the lunchtime menu. I had fish pie (£11.25) served without any vegetables. Reasonable size and tasted OK. My friends had fillet salmon (£14.25) served with chips ( as requested instead of the stated spinach), and grilled pork loin steak and crispy belly pork ( £14.95), also served with chips instead of the stated black pudding potato... Never been to this part of England before, yet I only live 1.5 hrs driver away. What a wonderful place full of natural beauty. I took my wife to the Inn at Whitewell for an overnight stay as a birthday treat. A wonderful Old English Inn set in beautiful surroundings in the Forest of Bowland, the river hodder running past... went for a buisness meeting and was promised a good lunch, I spent a little time studying the menu on the internet and was really looking forward to it, I was a little disapointed, it didnt quite live up to expectations, my black pudding with caramalized onions had a burnt taste and the famous fish pie was bland, there were... So sorry you didn't have a great lunch, your choices should have been bang on, the black pudding hearty and a real winter warmer and the fish pie just delicious, I should know I'm addicted. Can't apologise enough, hope very much you'll try us again. Regards Cb More

Excellent - nothing was too much trouble. Family stayed over and we all enjoyed breakfast together. Can't wait to go back in a year's time for one of our wedding presents. Well worth a visit just for a coffee. Been for Sunday lunch and it was fantastic - don't forget to book a table unless you get there really early... More

Just returned from a weekend at the Inn at Whitewell. I haven't visited this place for over 10 years and there was a nagging doubt that it might not live up to my memory of the place. No fear though as it's still as charming as ever. Gorgeous room, four poster bed, fireplace in the bedroom, modern bathroom, roaring fires,... More
