This place is magic, from the reception area and flowered courtyard through to the wonderful cloisters in which to dine (apart from the incredibly surly, sour waitress - hence the lower score for service). You really feel as though you are living in the Monastery. Rooms are not luxurious, but a decent size (mine had an extra small room with... More

The building is fantastic and so is the experience of staying in the Monastery. A beautiful entrance and ample free off street parking. The bedroom was huge and furnished in the simple Spanish style that you would expect to find in a monastery. The food and wine was very good and very reasonably priced. A great place to stay with... This hotel forming part of the monastery was a real find in this quiet corner of Spain. The building was full of the character one one expect from its title. It was an honour to stay here and be immersed in the history. This is not the most luxurious of hotels, and the village outside is small and rather touristy,... More

Staying in the Hospederia for the Monastery of Guadalupe was an experience we will not forget. The beautiful little town in this mountainous part of Spain, provides an appropriate setting for the important pilgrimage site of the Monastery of Guadalupe. The Hospederia proved to be very pleasant, our room having a lovely view out over the town and the hills... More

Staying here confirms why travel us such a valuable experience. We are not Catholic. But who cannot be moved when in the presence if such strong faith that created and still sustains this monastery? The tour, in Spanish which we do not understand, was a highlight of our trip. The hotel was an essential part of our time in Guadalupe.... More

First, I have to say that the absolute highlight of our 3-week road trip in Spain was tour of the Monastery. You can't see the Monastery without taking the tour, and it's all in Spanish. We don't speak Spanish and this almost put us off, but we decided to do it anyway (they do sell a guide in English and... More

This is not a normal hotel but a converted part of a monastery. Very beautiful and tranquil with high ceiling, traditional monastery rooms at exceptionally cheap prices. The only let down was the food which was not good. But for an unforgettable experience, the Hospederia is a must. The main attraction to Guadalupe is the church with the Virgin and... More

Helps to have some Spanish language if staying here but the staff are friendly and helpful even if you are like me and only know some basic phrases. The hotel itself is magnificent. Rooms are spacious and airy with real character. The common areas are charming and peaceful. Well worth putting on your itinerary, the hotel is an attraction in... More

Definitely not a 2 star hotel. 4 or 5 stars for sure. An integral part of one of the most amazing monasteries we've ever visited, my wife and I were in heaven during the two nights here. The magnificent consistoire where we had breakfast, drinks, and dinner, the immense bedroom with modern bath (and cool despite a daytime temperature hovering... More

We went to Guadalupe at the conclusion of our four-town, Extremadura tour (Merida, Caceres, Trujillo, Guadalupe). First, the drive from Trujillo on a lonely two-lane road was scenic and relaxing. The main reason to visit Guadalupe is to tour the monastery and see the Black Virgin of Guadalupe. The Hospederia is literally connected to the monastery. Over the centuries the... More
