The B&B was in a great location, exceptionally clean, and had friendly staff. It was located in a beautiful town. The room was large and comfortable. We ate at the restaurant on two occasions and it was the best pizza that we ate in Italy. (And, I'm Italian!) We came to this town to cycle in this area. The views... More

We stayed at Il CASTELLO at the start of a 7 day walking holiday in the MADONIE mountains. The hotel,is used often as a starting point or base for walkers. The building s shave been in the family for generations and a beautiful spring runs through the foyer! PETRALIA SOTTANA is a fabulous hilltop town, with adjoining PETRALIA SOPRANA . It... More

Stayed in the hotel while on a walking holiday with friends in the Madonnie. The town is mostly untouched by tourism and the locals were very friendly. Surrounding countryside was beautiful with some great walks. The hotel is built on the remains of a small castle and has been very nicely refurbished to a simple, yet high, standard. Rooms were... The location was excellent - virtually just below the snowline in Petralia and Piano Battaglia - which one MUST visit in winter! We could not believe we could drive trhough so much snow in Sicily! The rooms are very good - heat pump airconditioners in each room, ensuite bathrooms, good quality furnishing and very clean. Breakfast was good with excellent... More

Very nice hotel which in the past, part of it was a castle. This is situated in the heart of the village and surrounded by old houses. Very good breakfast and food which is made inhouse. Parking can be a problem but on the majority of the cases one can easily find a parking space in a nearby square. Rooms... More

My husband and I stayed here for one night in September and absolutely loved it. It is run by a wonderful family who were all extremely helpful. The rooms were very clean, spacious enough, and thoughtfully decorated. The price was very reasonable. Breakfast was quite tasty, and pretty extensive given that there didn't seem to be many other guests. We... More

Il Castello was our first overnight stop during our cycling holiday in Sicily during late May 2013. Cycling into Petralia Sottana the B&B is easy to locate as there are several brown tourist information signs displaying the names of the local B&Bs at most road turns. Upon arrival we were quickly attended to by calling the phone number on the... More

We stayed at Il Castello in 2012 when first discovering the Madonie and wanting to do some more walking in 2013 we returned and were not disappointed. The welcome was as warm as before and the overall calm and peace of the hotel is really restorative. Whilst finding the hotel is no problem (a few sharp corners which have to... More

A lovely, family run small hotel in an atmospheric village in the mountains of Sicily. The room was pretty, the food and wine outstandingly good, and the service was quite exceptional. We really enjoyed our stay and would love to return.

This was an enjoyable 3 night stay as a base for cycling locally and a sprint to Syracuse. Well run with decent restaurant attached. My only complaint is that the matresses were poor - vintage backpackers I would say, and to add insult to injury they had plastic covers, which soon found their way into the wardrobe. The interior renovation... More
