We stayed in the annex just around the corner and were pleasantly surprised with the spacious interior, lounge, large bathroom and small garden. Dinner was very good, good service with a smile although a touch pricey.

....why don't the owners of some of these hotels understand that most people who arrive on their doorstep have travelled, usually quite a distance, and would like a friendly welcome? It's not difficult to say bonjour, how was your trip? Welcome to our hotel. We hope you like it here? We stayed here for three nights and it's perfect for... More

This was just a one night stopover in the small town of Julienas on our trip from Paris into Italy, but was perfect in many respects. Our room was large, the bathtub was long enough for tall athletes and our bed had fantastic down comforters. The dinner on a beautiful outdoor patio consisted of pate, a fish dish of Fera,... More

We booked a one-night stay in late June. The weather was exceptionally hot and we had been driving all day. On arrival at the hotel (admittedly half an hour before the advertised check-in time of 3pm) we noticed a note on the door saying that check-in would now be 4pm. By 3pm there were three couples waiting to check in.... More

When driving from the Channel Ports to the south of France we like to break our journey and spend a couple of days in the Macon / Beaujolais area – just about half-way. The hotel Chez la Rose is ideally situated, only a short detour from the A6 motorway, but in a peaceful and attractive small village. The apartments across... More

We booked a night there (group of six, three rooms), with the plan to dine at a nearby winery (a set meal for 100 people!). The business model for the hotel, however, depends on you dining in. So when I called to say we would be a bit late, things were a bit tense (even though on ebookers there is... More

Dear Sir, We try to do our best for our customers for now 25 years. But by the way, rules accepted when bookings are done must but respected by every one. Nearly 16 years ago when we were living in Lyon, we were looking for a place for my father to stay in the area where he could walk and eat well - as a vegetarian, no easy thing in France. We came across this hotel, still owned by the same couple. They took him on as a challenge and he... More

Julienas is a small village a little off the beaten track, but not unreasonable for visiting the region. The Hotel Chez la Rose is a collection of buildings around the main square of the village. We stayed in an apartment less than a 100 yards from the hotel main building and restaurant. The bistro was not open the two nights... More

This hotel is in the middle of a small village in the Beaujolais. It is an old building that expanded progressively and offer different type of rooms. Ours was large, very nicely furbished in a modern style and very quiet. The hotel has a restaurant in house and a separated bistrot , but we did not try them. The location... More

We stayed at La Rose & Le Coq with 7 other couples for 5 nights for a 4 day wine tasting visit in Beaujolais in October 2013. It was the perfect centre for our activities. Julienas is a small sleepy village right in the middle of the wine country. The hotel is in the middle with plenty public parking opposite.... More
