We had read the average reviews of this 70's style hotel but the location , service, views and cleanliness more than make it worthwhile. We had a room with a balcony overlooking a flowing river and traditional village - recommend requesting this as view over street not so good

A chance encounter with the Touring Hotel when staying over en route to Bordeaux. Charming village, clean and located in the wooded hills. The hotel promises much but close inspection is not recommended. In all honesty it has seen better days as far as decor and "bling" are concerned but the price of rooms compensates for this. The place is... More

We had a stop over in this hotel recently. The staff are really friendly and the beer in the bar is highly recommended. Unfortunately the hotel has not had a lot of money spent on it for the past few years, very obvious from the dark decor and the odd loose plug! We ate in the restaurant which was a... More

Tired and musty with a terrible smell of cat pee on the landing. Stuck in a 1970s time warp. Avoid dinner in the restaurant ... Boiled calves head is disgusting.... The entire meal was inedible and the chicken was bland and tasteless. A beautiful location ruined by an unloved hotel.

Quaint and very pretty location, reminiscent of the Wye valley, this hotel is rather tired and sad. 'Seen better days' is very apt. That said, our room was clean (-ish) and comfortable and overlooked the canoeing efforts on the Sarthe. Tired decor and a very musty smell made it less appealing. Large room though, with a small balcony - if... More

We booked this through booking.com. This hotel is a bit old world but the kindness and attention of staff were wonderful. Very easy going. We went for half board. Breakfast was baguette, croissant, some yoghurt, juice, hot drinks. So forget cereal, bacon sausage. They have an indoor pool and the village is small and picturesque. It was quiet, clean and... We stayed at this hotel for one night on 23rd July 2007. The village and riverside setting are fabulous. Ample parking space near entrance. We enjoyed our time in the indoor heated pool as the weather was not great that day. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the accomodation was generous and very comfortable and excellent value. We had... More
