Tucked away amid the Route Bastide in the Dordogne, this venue is delightful. So quiet that it was easy to sleep until 10 each morning and then descend to a leisurely breakfast continental style. There is an outside pool and some lovely walks/runs close by. Classic French countryside

We stayed here for 3 days this Autumn, and were made to feel so welcome. The very friendly owners, Lisa and Eric, and their staff spoke good English and nothing was too much trouble. The Irish Maitre d' was particularly attentive and helpful too. I cannot recommend the restaurant highly enough - certainly fine dining at its best - we... More

We went for dinner on a Thursday in the summer and had the set menu - €35 per person and we were not disappointed. We say outside to eat in the evening sunshine to enjoy a glass (or two) of the large selection of wines they had available by the glass. We were offered tastings first to make sure the... More

As we were looking for a place to stay on our way to Spain, we accidentally booked Chateau de l'Hoste, and we are so happy that we made that 'mistake'! (we misspelled the name of a town close to Brive). It was well worth the 1hour detour from the Express way. We received a very warm welcome from Eric and... More

This was the best dining experience we had during our fortnight in France. Four of us had dinner outside. The surroundings and ambience were fantastic, as was the food and wine. Service was second to none, thanks to Mark who also gave some great wine recommendations. At €218 for 4, considering we had everything, it was a bargain. Would love... More

We were greeted & welcomed to the bar to choose a wine. After pate & bread we moved to the main table outdoors. Amazing food. Hard to beat. Would definitely recommend. It was my birthday & they made a special evening even more so. I had the set menu for €35. Lovely setting & super atmosphere. Service was second to... More

This hotel is exactly as shown in the advertising, very charming, surrounded by nature. Our room was large with a nice sitting erea. We were on half board, so fixed menu, but you could switch between the menus without any problem. The food was excellent, large choice of the local wines of Cahors. Very nice swimming pool. The owners and... More

Have just returned from a visit to France and the Chateau de l'Hoste. As always we find the hosts Lisa and Eric and their excellent staff led by Guy in the kitchen and Mark in the restaurant friendly, efficient and helpful. For non French speakers Lisa, Eric and Mark all speak excellent English. The chateau makes a delightful hotel with... More

Once you have found this wonderful 'chateau' you will marvel at the large and beautifully furnished bedrooms, the lovely grounds, fine dining and pleasant and helpful staff. Our room (no. 106) overlooked the front and couldn't be faulted. Highly recommended.
