Nice pension in old town on the border of a natural park Val Grande, only 15 minutes by car to Lago Maggiore. Near the pension is a very good restaurant and in the centre of town is good pizzeria. Very friendly and helpful staff, we got a map of the whole area, including the area around Lagio Maggiore. Our room... More

We loved this charming inn in an interesting little medieval village, tucked in the mountains, but a short drive from Lago Maggiore and Lago Orta. The room we stayed in, No. 5, is beautifully furnished, spacious and has a modern bathroom. Best of all, there's a balcony with views overlooking ancient rooftops to the snow-capped mountains. Breakfast is simple--croissants and... More

The Palazzo del Gabelliere is a wonderful converted palace in Vogogna. It has been stylishly converted and, while simple, is very comfortable. It's not a full service hotel so don't expect that, but it offers charming accomodation and amazing value within a short drive of Lago di Maggiore. Highly recommended!

Very much enjoyed staying here is thus very old building. Although it was November and the house is stone throughout it felt very cosy and was well heated. The rooms are beautifully furnished and comfortable. Nicole was very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was brioche and croissants and Illy coffee was on tap. Park in the village centre and walk up... Nice and comfortable room in the hearth of a small and cozy medieval village. Very friendly staff: Nicole (the owner) was extremely helpful and provided us with plenty of information on Vogogna, on where to eat, and on nearby sites of interest. OK breakfast, with machine-made coffee. Quite a good compromise for sleeping in a 14th century's building though!

we spend a day hiking in the mountains around macugnaga and tried to stay in a closeby agriturism but found it a bit run down and overpriced. looking at properties in the area we found this one with a high rating and a very low price. from the moment of the first contact till the moment we left, everything was... Beautiful Palazzo in the heart of an ancient valley town. An amazing stay in a stunning old room full of character, but at the same time clean and comfortable. Nicole is very hospitable, and went out of her way to assure that our stay was superb. We will be coming back!

The B&B is a real jewel in the Italian Alps. The pictures you see online really fall short to show how beautiful this place is. The “Palazzo del Gabelliere” is a medieval building with the quality and refinement of a world class "boutique hotel". Excellent hot water and heating system, spacious marble bathrooms, wooden floors, excellent beds and incredible elegant... More

Great place, nice town, and a VERY helpful hostess. Thank you Nicole for the lovely visit. We came here for our honeymoon this fall. Nicole set the room up very nicely for us. The town was a very interesting and medieval. Even though there wasn't a restaurant onsite, Nicole provided pastries, water and coffee. Call Nicole when you get close,... More

Unfortunately we were just staying at this gorgeously restored mansion while passing onto Switzerland. We arrived later then anticipated and Nicole had to step out. She simply left a note that she would be back and where to find the key. By the time we were done packing, Nicole had made here way back. Nicole graciously greeted us and showed... More
