The reviews of this hotel influenced our choice, and how lucky that was. One of our best holidays ever, helped by a number of factors. Hotel Caracol is the ultimate in a laid-back stay - Paco is the most congenial of hosts, even given the problems with us not speaking the same language, and Nothing Really Matters seems to be... What an amazing little find!!! If not for the review write up would have probably bypassed it. The hotel accommodation is really clean and spacious, basic but comfortable, views from the front rooms are amazing. Beach is small but beautiful, went in June 2012 still lots of secluded areas to sun bathe. The hospitality of the owner Paco is second... More

We stayed here for a few nights in 2010. The hotel has a warm and friendly atmosphere. The owners were friendly and hospitable and the locals friendly. The room was large and clean and all the basic amenities. The bar/restaurant was very good, lovely fresh simple home cooked food and excellent breakfasts whilst watching the dolphins. Would recommend highly. You... More

This hotel is lovely, clean, well maintained, food excellent (the food doesn't stop arriving at breakfast but dinner was a bit on the expensive side but we had gorgeous Paella - thoughts of it making me crave it now). We booked through Sally and John for 2 nights - who we can't wait to meet again to have a few... More

Superb. Expect the warmth of a family run establishment and you won't be dissapointed. The longer you stay the warmer the welcome as they get to know you. DO get up in a decent time for breakfast and watch the dolphins swimming up the bay. Hotel is really central for the best of the Galician coast, food is superb and... More

We are an Irish couple in the 50-55 age group. While looking for self-catering accommodation in Pontevedra, for one week in June, we came across Hotel Caracol on this website. We were immediately taken with the warm and friendly atmosphere conveyed through the very positive reviews of previous clients. We were disappointed to read that a car was recommended -... More

We had a wonderful holiday at Hotel Caracol near Pontevedra. The accommodation was on the river leading to the Atlantic ocean and it was a joy to see schools of dolphins swimming along. The breakfasts and evening meals were first class and plentiful. A quiet peaceful location which lends itself to a relaxing holiday and convenient for lots of other... More

Reluctant to say so, because we hope to go back sometime & repeat our lovely stay at Paco's - and if too many people find out how good it is then.... but what the heck: let's not be selfish. We stayed for two full weeks in a room overlooking the sea/estuary; the breakfasts were leisurely, lunches were delicious, as were... More

A lovely clean hotel, Paco and the staff were very welcoming. Although we didn`t speak much Spanish or Galician we managed to make ourselves understood and Paco even taught my little son how to count in Spanish.Off the main road but very close to shops etc and just across the road from the beach, we had breakfast every morning on... The hotel is a delight - off the beaten track but close enough to shops, beaches, restaurants etc. to ensure you don't feel too isolated. Large, clean rooms with, if you're lucky, magnificent sea views - literally the beach is across the road. The owner, Paco, is an excellent host, but be warned, he doesn't speak a word of English.... Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Hotel Caracol is a recently refurbished small, friendly hotel, situated off the coastal road between Pontevedra and Sanxenxo. Sitting just metres from the shores of the Ria de Pontevedra, overlooking the beautiful Island of Tambo, there are two beaches, an old harbour and a small taverna.Rooms have sea views, (and at high tide the sea is only a few metres away), ensuit bathrooms and televisions. Prices include an incredible breakfast served on the terrace, and either half or full board is available. The hotel also boasts what we consider to be the best restaurant in the area, Restaurant - Taverna El Caracol.Sit on the terrace overlooking the sea, with any luck you will see the dolphins, and enjoy the freshest seafood, or local meats cooked in a traditional wood burning oven (asadora), severed by the ever gregarious Paco the hotel owner. The hotel is perfectly placed to visit many wonderful towns, villages, islands and beaches, you can walk in the forest or just laze in the sun.Take a trip from the harbour around the ria, try a bit of mackerel fishing or go dolphin spotting it really is great fun for all.Sit on the terrace overlooking the sea, with any luck you will see the dolphins, and enjoy the freshest seafood, or local meats cooked in a traditional wood burning oven (asadora), severed by the ever gregarious Paco the hotel owner. The hotel is perfectly placed to visit many wonderful towns, villages, islands and beaches, you can walk in the forest or just laze in the sun.Take a trip from the harbour around the ria, try a bit of mackerel fishing or go dolphin spotting it really is great fun for all. ... more   less
