Our stay at I Cinque Balconi was quite pleasant. Situated in the perfect location for taking in all this Island has to offer, yet quiet and relaxing. The Breakfast Garden was a wonderful way to start our day. Surrounded by Fig and Pomegranate trees, as well as Night Blooming Jasmine, it really is wonderful. A short walk down the main... More

We stayed at i cinque balconi for 4 nights and really enjoyed the service we got from Davide and the rest of the staff at this lovely little hotel, which has been carefully renovated by the owner. The garden out back is great for breakfast or lounging around once the sun goes down. The hotel is near everything -- it's... More

We visited Salina island in november 2012 (13-15), two nights. We decided to stay at I Cinque Balconi hotel, because it is situated so well - just in the heart of Santa Marina Salina - a little and charming town with a lot of shops, bars restaurants. The hotel is great! Our room was so spacios and sunny. The garden... More

The rooms in this hotel have been very nicely renovated, we were 2 couples so we have seen two of the rooms. One of them was facing the street and it was light and friendly in the morning, although possibly more noisy and hotter. The other was in the back of the building, a bit dark but cooler and more... Stayed at I Cinque Balconi in October 2011. This hotel is really special. It really fits in with Salina's rustic charming. It is well situated, and I really hope to return some day. This hotel made the rest of the hotels we stayed at in Sicily, including much more expensive hotels, seem rather ordinary. Davide was great and very helpful.... More

We stayed in Cinque Balconi for one night and thought it was great. The hotel itself is very stylish and manages to combine traditional Italian decor as well as being very modern and chic. The location is excellent, rooms our spacious, very clean and have beautiful traditional tiled floors. The only let down was the very small bathroom with an... More

Hotel i cinque balconi is a small (only 10 rooms) and esthetically furnished hotel. It has a beautiful garden with all fruit and vegetables. The rooms are spacious and provides everything you need. The hotel is located in the middle of Santa Marina Salina, at the main street (cars are not aloud, so it is quiet). You can reach the... More

From the second we walked in the service and vibe of the place was perfect. The rooms were really spacious with great views. The breakfast was also delicious with that Italian style fresh cappuccino to top if off. We will definitely be returning!

I stayed at this small hotel for 2 nights in September 2010 with my partner and 2 children. We had the garden suite, which was one room with a queen and 2 singles. The room was more suited to a couple but worked reasonably well for our group. The hotel is really gorgeous, with a lovely garden, and our room... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
This charming hotel which is steeped of local history but at the same time looks forward to the future is situated inside the stately homes of the Lo Schiavo and Lauricella families that were the "Merchants of the Sea." Just giving a look at the original maiolica tiles and at the old furnace we realize that these houses that where built during the first and second half of 800, tell us of a period of economic prosperity that marked the local economy of those years. In fact thanks to the rich trade in local products such as malvasia, wine and capers, the entire island, due to the large naval fleet ranks first in the Aeolian context outlining a new era for a such small community. "The five balconies" hotel embeds itself in this scenery and leaves and re-evaluates traces of ancient history such as the "millstone" located in the suite. The two buildings (Lo Schiavo and Lauricella homes) united today in a single property, overlooking the main street "Via Risorgimento" where we find many sophisticated shops, have themselves designated the name of this hotel"I Cinque Balconi." These balconies which overlook the sea in front of Salina and at the same time face east towards the beautiful Aeolian sunrises, once were the observation point on the local everyday life. Its nice to imagine how the families of the "masters of the sea" look out of the balconies, while they waited for the beautiful schooners laden with good news and sales made in the mainland. One can breath the scent of this magic story just going up the two staircases of stone which access the main floor, where are located the rooms marked by some historical details highlighted by subtle play of a carefully selected light. The beautiful garden full of citrus and flowers, the proximity to the beach (about 100 meters), the central location and the historical traces, make the Hotel "I Cinque Balconi" an example of rare beauty and unique simplicity. 2) Segments of the history of the ancient masters of the sea of the Island of Salina scrolled through the historical homes of the Lo Schiavo and Lauricella families. It is in this context housing of the end of the 800s that we find the new hotel in which rooms you can read the history of the past. Each room of the Hotel "I Cinque Balconi" is nicely furnished and designed to give you the maximum comfort. You will have spacious rooms, with a lovely balcony overlooking the sea. There are available double or triple rooms, equipped with different furniture. Each room has all the best comforts such as air conditioning, safe, mini bar, hair dryer, telephone, high speed internet connection. Priceless is the pleasure of waking up or sleeping in one of the rooms that are comfortable, elegant and equipped with all services. In every spot of the hotel there are the premises to make you feel at home. The nature that surrounds the hotel "I Cinque Balconi" guarantees peace and quiet to regenerate body and spirit. Location. The rooms of the hotel "I Cinque Balconi" are just a few minutes from the splendid blue sea and from the beach that make this island an ideal place to spend in complete relax.
