When we arrived at the Europa, the electricity was out for the afternoon; no air conditioning, no lights, and no elevator service. The rooms were sparsely decorated in cheap furniture. There were only 2 lamps in the room and a ceiling fixture with a bare lightbulb. The beds were hard/uncomfortable. Linoleum was the flooring of choice in the hallways and... more

Right on the lake, the hotel is well located and the staff were certainly very friendly and helpful. Our room however could have used a little renovation, particularly the shower. It was perfectly clean but at 115 euros a night for a double, I expect more. more

Hotel Europa is a small family-run hotel. We have stayed twice and will return again. Family Meoli and their staff are always friendly and helpful. When we needed help to purchase tickets for a concert in nearby Lugano, Pablo, our host, made the phone call and arranged for tickets to be picked up at the concert hall. We thought the... more

We are a mid-sixties couple. Europa is an un-pretentious, clean, comfortable, family-run hotel in an enviable position on the lake shore. Pablo and his family and staff work very hard together and were always polite, helpful and happy. Our hol was half-board and the set meal was perfectly adequate and well-prepared. Alternative menu was available. Good wine list and bar.... more

We found this family run hotel friendly and welcoming when we stayed there with Jules Verne. The weather was perfect and there are good walks in the area. The local information bureau were very helpful on where to go and what to see. Everything in the town is only a few minutes walk away. Pablo his family and staff are... more

This COULD be a really great little hotel. It has a lovely location on the shores of Lake Lugano in this friendly small town a bus ride from the Swiss border. However, with no real competition from other hotels, they just do as much as they need to. We travelled with Voyages Jules Verne, who had decided that there would... more

Location location location. This hotel has great views of the lake. The Hosts are very friendly and the service first class. Compared to the hotels we stayed in in Rome and Venice this is best value. Would recommend to our best friends. more

Have just returned from a really lovely week at this hotel which is a real, honest, friendly family run 3 star hotel with a prime view across the Italian part of Lake Lugano. There are not many hotels in Porlezza. The rooms are clean and comfortabe. The bed was a bit on the firm side but that's my preference anyway.... more

Because the weather on the border of France and Switzerland was awful during the summer vacation weeks we were planning to spent at home, we decided to escape for a couple of days to tank some sun. Since there wasn't much free hotel room available around lake Lugano that was also price worthy we were more or less glad to... more
