We stayed here one night last night..four ladies mid forties, loved the building, so very interesting and unusual, yes its tired but is being renovated. We had the Ascot room which was nice, lovely comfy bed with fresh clean smelling bedding, reception very helpful and breakfast was delicious. Would definitely go again.x

The hotel was shabby to the extreme. The entrance hall was un-vacuumed and the overall decoration was dark and dilapidated, with filthy carpets. In the room, the ensuite door didn't fit properly so didn't shut unless pulled with force. The bath side, of bare mdf, had warped at one side and there was considerable rust around the plughole in the... More

This hotel is Quirky and different. Don't look for corporate sameness, but original Edwardian decor. I loved it for it's period charm and ignored the slight tiredness of the fittings. An ideal place for Cluedo with the Library, Captain's room, Bronte or Renoir rooms. Adjoining next door is the Boundary Hotel which had been updated, hence the time warp feel.... More

We were attending a rugby match at the Headingley Carnegie Stadium in Headingley, therefore the location was excellent, a very short walk to the stadium. The hotel also had a reasonable sized car park for the use of hotel patrons. Unfortunately that is where the positives end. The hotel on entering was quite dark and had a strange, foisty smell.... Worst place I have ever stayed in and by far the filthiest!! The outside of the hotel sums it all up, dark, dingy and neglected.....Reception very outdated, dingy and there was a strange odour. We were handed our keys as we checked in at 1500, and on entering our room we straight away felt it hadn't been cleaned. This was... More

This had to be the worst night's stay I've ever had in a hotel. I can honestly say I didn't sleep at all; it was noisy inside and as I was in a front room the traffic didn't stop until 3.30am and then resumed at 4.30! The heating was on and there was no control so it was unbelievably hot... More

Stayed at this hotel last July and will be going back this weekend. You get what you pay for here and for the price I think its fab which is why we are returning. We stayed in the Bronte room which was clean and comfy, the breakfast was very tasty and nicely presented and the staff were helpful. We plan... More

Stayed here in early July. Friendly greeting on arrival. Reception very dingy. Half the building is called The Butler Hotel; the other half is connected and called the Boundary Hotel. We stayed in the Butler Hotel half on the top floor at the front. All exposed woodwork is stained a streaky dark brown; all pipework and radiators are painted dark... More

Oh Dear, another one of these difficult to rate places, it's not really good, but not too bad either. Very aware of the mixed reviews i've booked it anyway, simply because it was very close to where i needed to go. Good things are... plenty of (free) parking space, surprisingly good breakfast, free WiFi and windows do open. Some good... More

I stayed here while working in the area, after reading some reviews I was beginning to regret the booking. However, for my purposes the stay was fine. I was greeted by friendly staff. The hotel is very dated but my room was clean and had everything I required, tea making facilities with a decent sized mug, which is a rare!! shower... More
