We live locally and when we were on holiday, the family came up to our house for a weekend we recommended the Red Lion. They turned up, muddy from a walk 4 adults, 5 children 8 - 4 and a dog ! They were welcomed with open arms and had a wonderful, reasonable meal in a nice atmosphere. Only complaint... More

Just visited with friends for a pre festive weekend. An absolute gem of a place. Wonderful relaxed atmosphere in the pub with food worth travelling for. Log fires, excellent food and lovely people. The menu was varied and not too big and we all chose different things and it was so good that we ate there the following night too.... More

My husband booked this for us as I was competing in a local working dog event. We were made to feel extraordinarily welcome by the landlords and their staff and our two dogs were allowed in the restaurant. We celebrated our success with a fabulous meal in lovely cosy surroundings and then spent a very comfortable night in the newly... More

Centrally and conveniently placed for many of the local National Trust properties and for all the exceedingly pretty Cotswold villages. Just back from four nights in the Red Lion. The staff are welcoming, friendly, and want to help. The atmosphere is great and the dining room has the cosy benefit of a log fire (it's November!) (see separate review for... More

I've just spent a very pleasant 4 nights here. The room was comfy, clean. plenty of toiletries and tea and coffee. The telly was big, not the usual small one. Wifi worked fine and was reliable. Breakfasts were very tasty. The evening meals are excellent (I'll do a separate restaurant review) The place closes mid week 2:30-5:30 but you can... More

My partner and I eat and drink here fairly regularly. It’s always very reasonably priced and the standard of the food and drinks is excellent. The staff are always really polite and friendly, and the decor is lovely inside. They allow dogs, too. The sunday roast is delicious, and I love that they serve fish and chips in their own... More

Called in for a lunchtime sandwich and drink. The whole place was absolutely packed with people presumably with the same idea as ourselves but the staff on the lunch time shift on the 25th October coped magnificently well done to all concerned. We chose a BLT on Ciabatta and a smoked Salmon sandwich I also asked for a bowl of... More
