I stayed in this hotel last weekend and couldn't wait to tell everyone about it. We just wanted a really relaxing weekend and this fitted the bill. The room (Room 11) was superb, very spacious and clean and the en-suite was very luxurious with a large bath/shower.
We had an evening meal in the restaurant which was very tasty. Teh...

what a wonderful surprise !! this hotel has loads of character, extremely helpful staff & clean rooms. would highly recommend. doesn't look like much from the outside but is perfect example of 'don't judge a book by it's cover'. room 7 is worth booking. beautiful big lounge rooms & staff went out of their way to be helpful. highly recommend
Given the reviews of this hotel I was looking forward to my stay, albeit for one night. However my overall impression was of disappointment and coming at the end of a 3 week Scottish holiday it was the most expensive of all our accommodation. Food was delicious...I didn't appreciate having a...

If anyone is looking to stay in the North of Scotland ( Helmsdale) and would like a 'Fawlty Towers' experience then one or two nights at this hotel will bring back all recollections of that memorable tv series!...
Owner and wife were friendly and welcoming. Food was good, small bar, chatted with a few of the locals who were very friendly. Rooms clean and comfortable. Good stop for those who may like fishing or a break for those travelling further north.
A very friendly and relaxed place to stay with lots of interesting pictures and taxidermy around the hotel. Our dog was made very welcome too. Probably because of the remote area, the food in particular was quite expensive for what it was.
A great hotel with very friendly staff, as long as you like stuffed animals at the walls. Hunting and fishing trophies at every corner. Wonderful classic furniture. The dinner rooms with tartan curtains ( Sutherland I guess)
I liked the athmosphere. The two fireplaces were cosy, and many drams from the excellent Whisky Bar made the stay even better.
