It's not often I can stay in a b&b without finding something I'm not happy with but Culgower House has to be the exception. Stayed on way to get the ferry to Orkney. It had plenty of parking space in front of a beautiful house and when Catriona welcomes you into the house it is not a disappointment. After showing... More

We stayed here on our way to Orkney. The standard of the accommodation, the views and the food was excellent. The small touches added to the experience: the homemade tablet with tea, fresh milk in the bedroom with the tea and coffee, homemade biscuits, fresh flowers and great toiletries. Add to this a huge comfy bed and huge free standing... More

This house is a fantastic find in this remote area of Scotland. A large stone house set off the main road south from John O Groats to Inverness. If you are going to stay anywhere on this road stay here! Catriona met us and showed us our amazing rooms and then gave us tea and home made cake in the... More

We spent two nights here during our extensive six weeks touring Scotland. Staying at numerous superb establishments this guesthouse was without doubt the very best. An immaculate house with superb attention to detail. Our room and bathroom were spotless and beautifully appointed, including a vase of fresh flowers! Breakfasts were innovative and delicious, prepared by our hostess Catriona. John her... More

We stayed at Culgower House for one night on our way to Orkney at the end of May. It is, without doubt, the best B & B we have come across - and we have stayed in quite a few! Catriona has everything down to a fine art and we cannot speak highly enough of our stay. Culgower House itself... More

Stayed at Culgower House on the first night of a trip North heading to Orkney last week. Arriving at Culgower House made the perfect start to our holiday. I stayed at Culgower House last weekend and it's a real challenge to find enough complimentary words to do Culgower House justice. Paradise would come close! Catriona and John have created an absolutely beautiful haven, situated just off the A9 between Helmsdale and Brora, but wonderfully quiet given the proximity to the road. The setting is stunning, with hills rising... More

You could almost run out of superlatives describing this B&B. Everything exceeded expectations by a large margin. The room was beautiful, spacious and very comfortable with wonderful linens and a great mattress. The view from our room, overlooking the first/forth(?) was magnificent and the bathroom was bigger than some of the other rooms on our trip. The hosting family were... More

I wish we could have stayed longer at Culgower House, we were so comfortable and slept soundly. The guest lounge and the breakfasts were brilliant and our room so comfortable. This was the best bed and breakfast we have ever stayed in! Congratulations to Catronia and John. They were so welcoming, coffee, tea and home baked goodies on arrival, breakfast was amazing, and the day we had to leave early for our Orkneys tour John met us at the front door with a breakfast basket full of goodies for us...
