We stayed here for 4 nights having never visited Suffolk before, following a recommendation from Sawday's. I can't say enough about how wonderful our stay was. There are only 3 bedrooms above the pub, very cosy room with pine furniture and a lovely window seat. It's located a 2 minute walk from the sea and from the fairy tale centre... More

We stayed here for one night in. October, had a great time. Food, service and staff all very good. Room very comfortable, unfortunately the guy in the next room kept flushing the toilet at night, but I guess we were just unlucky here. Would stay here again.

Stayed at the nearby Dune House recently. Nice walk along the beach to The Dolphin. Ate here on the Saturday evening and had a really great night. Great service, pubby feel, nothing was a problem. They even let us take our part eaten pate jars away with us on the basis that we brought them back the next day, which... More

We booked the Dolphin by chance as we wanted to stay somewhere near Minsmere the RSPB reserve, what a find, we stayed in a lovely clean comfortable room the only drawback being it was not possible to stand and shower because of the shape of the room we had to kneel in the bath and hold the shower head or... Family lunch at the Dolphin on Sunday, October 5th was extremely disappointing to say the least. Five of us ordered the "roast pork" which was more like a thick chunk of pork belly, rather than sliced roast pork. It was fatty and tough as well, and we all left a substantial portion on our plates. The Dolphin needs to describe... More

If it is a pint of beautiful Adnams bitter and a fabulous lunch look no further than the Dolphin at Thorpeness near Aldeburgh. On a dry day sit in the garden and if you have dogs they are welcome. The smoked salmon sandwiches were very good value and the pate is definitely recommended ! We visit there every summer and... More

There are so many excellent pubs in this part of Suffolk that those of us who live there or only visit are really spoiled for choice. What I want is a pubby pub, not some Farrow & Ball temple of cool. But it must have decent food, something more than fish and chips and steak pie. Well, the Dolphin hits... More

As we all know, parenthood is a constant stream of sunny days, smiles and small boys behaving perfectly (ahem). We also know that, if young children are not fed in time, a small thermonuclear explosion occurs. I was therefore extremely grateful to discover The Dolphin starts serving food at 6pm. Hardly unique, but unusual, in these parts and I was... More

Having lived in Suffolk for just under 10 years, we had never been to Thorpeness, so decided to go and take a look and have lunch there for an anniversary meal. The weather was rather wet so we arrived early which presented no problem. A table was found quickly, the staff were friendly and efficient and we had a delicious... More

We ended up here by mistake as the pub we were going to stopped serving food at 8. We rang & they fitted us in. The staff were wonderful, very friendly, helpful and the service was excellent. We had parma ham & potted shrimps for starters, someone moaned on here about not liking food served on wood but if the... More
