We found Camely Lodge as a last minute deal. We arrived friday night in the dark for a 2 night stay and were pleasantly suprised at our reception and room. We had the bridal suite, with a spa bath, spacious and wonderful views over the fishing lakes and surrounding countryside. We chose to eat in the restaurant. My husband eating... more

We stayed at this hotel as a last minute booking having to rush down to Bristol due to an illness in the family, as we arrived late in the evening I phoned the hotel and spoke to John the owner who assured us we could arrive when we arrived and that he would be waiting for us. As promised he... more

Stayed here for one night and we loved it. We had booked a twin room, and due to a mix up with the reservation (not the hotel's fault) they upgraded us to two single rooms. Both were very good size with queen beds, new bathrooms. Very clean, comfortable beds, and with lovely views. Breakfast was also excellent and the staff... more

We booked a private room for our wedding annivesary and had 33 guests four of which were very much surprise guests having travelled from the USA without our knowledge. All of our guests had nothing but praise for the excellent service and the food provided. My wife and I had been previously to the restaurant and because of this decided... more

This review is slightly delayed, but my husband and I got married here in September 2008, and some of our guests stayed at the hotel, along with us. The staff were fantastic, from planning until the end of the day they looked after us all. Nothing was too much trouble, and their 'can-do' approach makes a refreshing change to so... more

I spent one night here over the weekend. The room itself was immaculate, lovely big bed, views of the lake and church opposite, very quiet and secluded. The staff were exceptionally helpful, friendly and welcoming. The hotel restaurant was great. I had prawns in brandy cream to start and roast duckling with black cherries for a main. Very good food... more

Stayed here for four nights. The hotel is in a very quiet and secluded position, off the beaten track you could say, positioned a mile along a narrow road off the A37 from Bristol to Shepton Mallet. From the hotel we visited many places in the area with ease. The outlet centre at Street was one of the best we... more

Not that good really - on arrival we had to wait too long to be checked in, even though staff were walking past us without acknowledging us. When we got to our room it had not been cleaned. The toilet had been used and not flushed, there was little toilet paper left. Dead crane flies were all over the carpet,... more

Management response from

Had this guest made a complaint regarding the "apparent" issues at the time of the stay then this would have been dealt with immediately - as he/she did not , I find it unbelievable that this "review" can be justified. I suggest travellers also look at other review sites regarding Cameley Lodge and see the excellent ratings.
