Stayed here in the sixities regularly through to the eighties - it was a wonderful place to stay - pony trekking in the summer and skiing in the winter.Had wonderful family holidays . Sorry for all the people who had terrible experiences - that is a disgrace and I sympathise with them. But I disagree with the last writer -... More

Anyone who has stayed at the Spittal of Glenshee in recent times will be relieved that it has burnt down. It went through every step in the decline of an hotel until something terminal seemed almost inevitable. Perhaps someone will have the capital to finance a rebuild but, stuck as it is, in the middle of nowhere with scant appeal,... More

We have just heard the devastating news that a fire has destroyed almost half of the hotel. We have been staying at the Spittal two or three times a year since 1988 so we have seen it at its best. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all past management and hard working staff for making our memories... More

Arrived at 8.30pm - no rooms ready - 1 member of staff only in the place. 10.30 we were shown our rooms - filthy rooms, filthy toilets, a totally awful horrendous experience. We were also told " sorry no supplies so you wont get any breakfast!". We have now contacted the owner who told us the place was in liquidation!!!... More

My husband and I took my mother in law back to the Spittal for a visit after my husbands father passed away. They'd been there for a holiday together a few years before and my mother in law had such wonderful memories of it. When I first saw it I was shocked at its quirkiness. I have to say I... More

I sympathise with those who expected something they didn't get here, there is something wrong at many customer satisfaction levels, but I really love this place! Yes, it's bizarre and outdated, but that's what makes it so special. An unchanged, genuine, 1960's ski hotel decor, which could be marketed as the hotel's unique and fascinating attraction. Where else can you... More

DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER THIS AS AN OPTION ! ! ! My booking was done online via eviivo.com and full payment was made and confirmed on 29th January 2014. On the documentation received from eviivo.com it was stated that book in time was 15:00 (3pm) On the afternoon of 5th June I arrived at your premises at 16:45 (4.45pm) and... More

Dinner was good - everything else poor. Lack of staff - the ones that were there were unhelpful and almost rude (at checkout the receptionist just shrugged and turned away when we had settled up) Breakfast just a shambles - no clear tables, cold coffee, no milk, 1 rasher of bacon and 1 fried egg at the buffet but loads... Around 12 of us stayed at this "inn" last week. We had to pay upfront and our rooms were not ready until about 7pm. However they were clean and the one man band member of staff did also manage to get us clean towels once they'd come out of the tumble dryers by about 8pm. We also all had supper... More

DO NOT GO TO THIS HOTEL! THEY ARE FRAUDSTERS! My partner and I booked in for 3 days, paid £165 in cash upfront. The receptionist, who is also the Barman, the "cook", and the waiter, eventually strolled up to book us in. When we got to our room it was apparent it hadn't been cleaned. The toilet still had faecal... More
