this was supposed to be a treat as the price is very expensive, the hotel looks very good from the outside, and good inside, till you see the very basic rooms, I've stayed in better rooms for half the price, plywood wardrobe for example, hotel decor looks good at first glance but is false, veneer surround to alcove around fire,... A shame this guest did not enjoy their stay. The statement regarding decor is extremely sweeping and incorrect. The decor is a mix of antiques and reproductions carefully sourced over many years and in keeping with the properties age and style. This has been noted by independent publications such as Scotland the Best, the Michelin guide & Perth and Kinross:... More

Having stayed at a chain hotel before our visit I noticed a huge difference in the service at this privately run hotel. The personal welcome, attention to detail and general service, especially at meal times was outstanding. This is how it should be. The hotel is an old ( castle) building and of course it has its quirks - uneven... More

Thank you for your kind review. As you correctly note the building is an old one which we have been constantly working on since 2004. At that time it required a major refurbishment and we have been slowly but surely making progress ever since. Your comments re: service and the food very welcome and something we also feel is a... My wife and I stayed at Dalmunzie fir four days in late June 2010. A historic location, tastefully decorated with period pieces. The service was excellent and the food was great. Nothing was spared in terms of hospitality and service to make the stay a totally memorable occasion. The staff were attentive, and always ready to assist with any request.... More

So pleased you enjoyed your stay. Your comments are lovely and as a former manager at The Savoy in London, high praise indeed. More

We stayed here for two nights before and after our wedding day in August 2010. I cannot praise the team at Dalmunzie highly enough and they were always happy to help and deliver a great level of service. The food was terrific and all our guests commented on how much they enjoyed it. The rooms are clean and comfortable. If... More

So pleased your wedding was all that you wanted. I'm afraid some guests just don't get the style of bedrooms we've created but the vast majority seem to be happy. Many thanks and look forward to welcoming you back for an anniversary. More

We visited Dalmunzie for the first time for a family wedding. The hotel is beautiful with loads of character and set in a beautiful location. From the minute we walked through the door the staff were amazing. Their attention to detail and their attentiveness was exceptional. Colin, Emma, Andrew and the girls(sorry don't know their names) made us feel like... More

Our primary aim at Dalmunzie is for guests to feel at home in a relaxed environment with 'genuine' but unobtrusive service. In your case it sounds like we were successful. Thank you for your kind comments. More

I wasn't going to review this place as I wasn't that enthused by it when I stayed in the summer last year but reading through the reviews it is quite extraordinary the contrast of the excellent vs. awful reviews on here! I don't think any place, Including the Dalmunzie deserves a 'slagging' by anyone as it's really not that bad,... More

What an intriguing review. We welcome the comments as to our food but have to disagree on many others. Of course we monitor Trip Advisor as would any responsible hoteliers. We respond to reviews as and where we see fit, and in particular to those we feel are unjustified. We welcome constructive criticism but of course will react defensively to... More

I stayed here in July with 2 children. The rooms were dated and in desperate need of redecoration, especially the bathrooms in some of the rooms which needed either replacing or a really good clean. I do like the authentic furniture but just a little too mis-matched in the less expensive bedrooms. Food is fantastic especially the breakfasts with plenty... More

Glad this guest liked the food, but am afraid a misunderstanding has occured regarding the decor. The hotel is not in 'dire need of renovation', far from it. All of the hotel bedrooms were subject to a major refurbishment (carpets, curtains, light fittings, furniture etc) over 2005-2007. The objects chosen were either genuine antiques or reproductions designed to match the old... More

A very beautiful old building nestled at the base of the mountains and surrounded by pine trees and lush green lawns. We were met as we arrived and made to feel very welcome. The staff were helpful, friendly, yet very professional. The lounge areas were cosy with plush lounges and open fireplaces- a great setting for a devonshire tea or... More

So pleased you enjoyed your stay & particularly good that we satisified the palate of an 18 year old! The internet connection is a bit limited throughout the hotel but we are only recently celebrating getting any broadband at all. We will keep working on it. More

Married here in 2002 and have been returning with growing family (including our dog) every year since! From the moment you walk through the front door, friendly staff treat you as a member of their family. Terrific atmosphere, beautiful walks, excellent staff, delicious food, I could go on and on...! Everything is just perfect here. Cannot recommend it highly enough.... More

Myself and my partner first visited Dalmunzie last July. We had the most magical Birthday dinner for my partner which was made even more magical at the end of the meal as he proposed!
