We have just returned from a weekend at the Moor of Rannoch, bathed in stunning autumn colours. This is a unique and special place - remote (but for the train), beautifully looked after and managed. As every other review says, the welcome is warm and genuine, the hotel is small (but not cramped), the rooms and cosy (and the legendary... More

Scott and Steph are simply the best hosts, with the best location for the best week-end imaginable. A day trip by train to Mallaig is a must. No doubt that next year they will loose the 'Newcomer' title and simply be 'Hotel of the Year (any year)'

Hi Bill C, We are glad that you and your friends all enjoyed your recent weekend exploring the wilderness of Rannoch Moor. A trip on the scenic West Highland Railway Line is often voted as one of the best rail journeys in the world and it makes a fantastic day trip from Rannoch returning just in time for dinner. As... Hi aliderm, Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay with us. It is good to hear that you were able to return to Rannoch Moor after your previous visit for dinner. We agree that sunrise over Rannoch Moor is a spectacular sight and our dining room provides a great place to view it from. With none... More

Moor of Rannoch Hotel is next to Rannoch station, somewhere on Rannoch Moor. Most people arrive by train or even walking, the minority drive by car along the 37 mile road from the A9. It is a wonderful drive and if you do drive there make sure you go up by the road to the north or Loch Rannoch and... More

Hi Paul B, It is great to haer that you enjoyed your time on Rannoch Moor. The 130km of uninhabited wilderness is a great place to explore and as you mention there is ample wildlife to see. Our deer herd continue to wander around the hotel looking in the windows. We are constantly on the lookout for more local produce... More

There are not enough words that we can find that will describe just how lovey this little hotel and its hosts, Scott & Steph are. We have left a piece of hearts up there and are already planning when we can visit again, we really wish we had booked a week as two days was not definitely long enough. Beautiful... More

In the middle of nowhere it may be but a wonderful place for a few days stay. Top class food and comfortable rooms with a warm welcome and lots of malts. You certainly don't miss the telly and will find.

Hi ed_smith2, The Moor of Rannoch is surrounded by 130km's of the uninhabited wilderness of Rannoch Moor so you could say that we are in the middle of nowhere. However we are located beside Rannoch Station with the West Highland Line connecting us to Glasgow, Fort William & Mallaig as well as the Caledonian Sleeper direct from London. All of... More

At the end of a road that has nowhere else to go; on the edge of a moor that is stunning in its stark beauty, is this wonderful oasis of good food & good hospitality run by Scott and Steph. They have put their hearts into it and it shows, overcoming more than a few challenges along the way. For... More

Hi cosiwalkers, Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay with us. The wilderness of Rannoch Moor is a great place to escape to, with no TV's/Radios/WiFi & almost non-existent mobile signal, it is a great place to switch off. The road ends at Rannoch but we are also located right at Rannoch Station making arrival by... More

We had the most fantastic weekend at the Moor of Rannoch in August 2014. Scott and Steph were brilliant hosts and, although the trip was a surprise for me, I am assured they were as helpful in planning our stay as they were when we were there. From breakfast as we got off the sleeper train, to a delicious picnic,... More

What a fantastic hotel and restaurant! Thank you to Scot and Steph for ensuring that we had a wonderful stay. We stayed one night in room 3 which was lovely.
