Disappointed in the food first time at the fox and hounds!!! Tried the cavery it was over cooked and tasteless. The scampi portion was very small and i had to ask for our table to be cleaned twice. The barman asked if i wanted him to clean it or did i want the cloth! I cleaned the table!! Sorry for... More

The staff are so concerned that everything be right for you that you can (to a little extent) overlook the shabby bar area, and, in our case, the bathroom that needed a new shower cubicle. Those are the only minus points that I could give. Our bedroom was cheaply, but cleanly furnished and decorated, the bed so comfortable that I... More

I just love the bad things in life and when I say bad , I mean the over indulging of fantastic food. The Steak and Ale pie, of which I like to think of myself as a true pie connoisseur was absolutely without a doubt, the best to pass my lips. Lovely country hotel, that could be the worst place... Just spent the long bank holiday weekend here, the hotel is set back just off the A171 so very little traffic noise. We stayed in room15 which had a huge bathroom with very large bath ( big enough for two persons) the room was very clean and comfortable although the floorboards were extremely creaky. There was plenty of choices for... More

This inn with bar, restaurant and rooms is the best we found in the area near Saltburn. Family friendly, lovely staff and excellent value for money. The all day carvery was particularly good and breakfast in the conservatory was leisurely, relaxed and delicious. Rooms were tastefully decorated and immaculately clean. Looking forward to needing a room in this area again.

Good service, polite staff and always accommodating. Even when the restaurant and dining room are full they will always "fit you In". Excellent carvery and good menu. Only one snag the price of drinks are high even for a shandy or cordial and water. However I will be back to try the two for £13 and I would recommend people... More

Arrived on Saturday afternoon and was welcomed with a warm greeting from one of the staff, Checked in with no problems and were shown to our room which was very clean. There was tea, coffee & biscuits available which was a nice touch.... More

Visiting here with a group of friends had a mixed result. We have been here a number of times and have always found the carvery excellent but on this occasion although the food was good, the staff were not what they should be. Certain female members would benefit from training/retraining in customer relations and could take their male colleagues as... More

We were walking the Cleveland Way. The room was very pleasant and spacious. Breakfast was OK, but not much in the way of fresh fruit, make your own toast with pretty indifferent bread. We did not want a carver as we are not big meat eaters. Although there was quite a bit on the menu, the waitress knew nothing about... More

I was on the Cleveland Way - arriving after a day of walking and the staff were very kind and helpful. It was a welcome luxury to stay here after a few nights of camping and long days walking. The single room I paid for was a twin and comfortable. I enjoyed the bar, carvery, dining room with waitress service... More
