The staff are all very helpful and polite but the hotel needs some serious investment. All areas including the bar, reception, corridors and rooms need a total refresh. Our room reminded me of a low quality motel in the back end of no-where.

On Cleveland Way walk. Provided lift too and from route. Accomodation like a motel. Other pubs up the far end of village so after a days walking used facilities here. The earlybird menu inexpensive but also smaller dishes. Other meals looked good. Breakfast good.Room ok but shower was very low pressure. Quality of real ale good. Think they are currently... More

Tired decor, noise from the laundry, unenthusiastic staff. Not enough plug sockets, broken taps and mirrors in bizarre places so are not usable. Stayed in better travel lodges, the scenery is beautiful but will not come back, would rather camp :-(

We three are almost to finish of the Coast to Coast walk so this was night 11 and the least hospitable and most tired of all the accommodation we have used. The hotel is in drastic need of in upgrade to its hot water system as none of us had a shower we could enjoy due to the very poor... More

Stayed here for the last weekend in May as we were attending friends wedding nearby. The comments about the staff were correct...very friendly and nothing too much trouble. The owner even lent us a parking card so we could go to Stokesley... a lovely place. Our room was very clean and functional. But the really pleasing experiences were around the... More

We held our wedding here on the 26th May and we couldn't be more pleased with the fantastic service we received. Yes it's true that the rooms are a little dated but the staff did everything they could to make us comfortable and made sure we had everything we needed to get ready (considering there was myself and five bridesmaids... I am very impressed with the way the staff treated a couple who were sitting next to me having dinner. First of all they sent the food back because it had chips with it and they had said they did not want chips. Could they not have just left the chips? The food then returned and they then complained that... More

We were on day 12 of walking the Coast to Coast when we stayed at the Wainstones Hotel. It is in Great Broughton, around two miles north of Clay Bank Top. This is a walker friendly hotel. They provide a complimentary return transfer from Clay Bank Top, so do not be intimidated by the location. All you have to do... More

We stayed here on 30th march and, having read the previous reviews were expecting it to feel quite dated. This was the case but the helpful and friendly staff more than made up for it. My only issue was the water pressure for the shower however I think this was just ours (and the bath was big enough). Breakfast was... More
