We had made a booking at another hotel in Folkestone before our crossing on eurotunnel, unfortunately made the booking a day later than needed in error...that hotel charged us the full amount for any changes...so last minute booking at abbots fireside in frustration and what a surprise...gorgeous village, wonderful atmospheric hotel. Comfortable, clean, wonderful dinner and breakfast. Took away the... More

Our Party had three room's with Breakfast,we also had the evening meal. Family room and bathroom very spacious and with a tiny curtained off room with a single bed. The other family room was one very large room. The Double room is quite compact but comfortable. This is a very old building with low doorways and uneven floor's which add's... More

Having read all other reviews I feel disloyal! The service was excellent and we witnessed very picky guests at breakfast. We were in the area to visit old friends. The room was very authentic but the bed was terrible. Good shower and lovely white towels. Lots of toiletries. The breakfast included was for a buffet we had to pay extra... More

We stayed just for one night and were very impressed by the hospitality of the owner and staff, the quality of the accommodation and the beautiful old building. The place was spotless, nice white bed linen and soft towels in the bedroom and a very generous hospitality tray. The price of the room (which included a Continental breakfast, compared very... More

Stayed here for one night, easy to park outside, easy to find. It is located about twenty mins by car from Canterbury and well worth the drive. Elham is a delightful English village with a couple of pubs and a small local shop. Very nice place and surrounded by breathtakingly beautiful rolling green countryside. The pub is around 400+ years... More

I would highly recommend eating at the Abbot's fireside in Elham. The service was attentive and helpful, the menu had variety covering renowned British dishes and the food I had (steak and ale pie) was excellent. I would definitely return. Big thanks to Johnny the owner who took the time after our meal to chat to us and make us... More

I think this place is my new favourite. I've stayed in hotels and b&b's all over Europe and further too but this place to me tops them all. Beautiful rooms, comfy beds, nice bathrooms. I advise to dine there too as food and staff are fantastic I'm not great with names but I think it was Adam and Kelly who... More

From the moment we walked through the door of this beautiful ancient building Adam made us feel incredibly welcome. Nothing seemed too much trouble for him as he booked us in to our room. The building has real old world charm and genuine history to it. The room is quaint and welcoming with a lovely comfortable bed. We had a... More

This hotel was truly a little gem. It was in such an idyllic location, surrounded with beautiful countryside so made the journey there even more enjoyable. When my friend and I arrived we were welcomed by Adam who was polite and friendly. We stayed in the Wellington Room which was a little treat. We stayed 3 nights and it was... More

The village was tranquil, the first impression of the hotel was " Olde England " as indeed the building is cica 1451. Once inside the welcome was warm, friendly but not overbearing, we were in the Keeler room which was full of character, with all the normal mod cons tastefully installed. Breakfast was a choice of continental or full English,... More
