Arrived on a Friday evening at about 10 pm and looking forward to drink in bar after hectic day. 'Hotel' was on the point of being locked up and in darkness. After being shown to our room, we were advised that if we wanted a drink we should go to the pub down the road as the bar doesn't open... More

My husband and I have just returned from a 3 night stay at Abbots Fireside Hotel. Lovely 15th century building with lots of character in the beautiful village of Elham.Floors were uneven and the ceilings were low,but for us this added to the charm. We had lunch and dinner there one of the days and we found the food really... More

Stayed here many times over the last 9 years. Have seen the place go slowly down which is such a shame. The curtains and carpet are still the same the dining room now looks awful it used to have white table clothes and sparkling glasses it now has old wooden table and chairs with dead hops hanging from the ceiling.Beds... Some years ago we stayed at the Abbott's Fireside Hotel and thought we would like to revisit expecting to be disappointed. However were far from disappointed. In fact it was better than before being under new management. The Hotel has great character of Ye Olde English. Rooms are full of history and our room once had the Duke of Wellington... More

A 16th century hotel full of original features. If you are looking for a peaceful retreat this is it! All rooms are named after famous guests of days gone by. We were in The Wellington room which was large and comfortable. Despite being at the front of the hotel it was very quiet. We had dinner in the dining room... More

Let me say first that I stayed in several small, OLD B&Bs during my recent trip to England. This was the worst as far as the hotel goes. Here are the "goods": 1. The restaurant was fantastic (but I should really put that under another review) 2. The continental breakfast good (although at every other B&B we stayed at, we... More

This is the type of place to look at from the outside. If you want to stay in a museum then this is for you. Room on front all uneven. Bed on a slope also. Birds nest above in roof very noisy night. Never again.

Did not eat dinner in the restaurant but the continental breakfast was reasonable. Not sure when hotels stopped serving traditional English breakfasts unless specifically ordered at extra cost - this seems a shame and another example of cutting corners to make less work. Breakfasts were always part of the hotel experience as not many people have time to do it... More

Last minute booking to this hotel as I needed accommodation for the same night. We arrived late (10pm) -received a call from the hotel to check we were on the way. Arrived and shown to our room (the Wellington) -very Olde English! Beamed room -fireplace -Drapes above the bed -very quaint and appealing. Large room (floor on a bit of... More
