Booked on the spur of the moment as travelling to Belgium on an early shuttle. Very polite and accommodating staff and an Inn steeped in charm and character. The room was clean and generously proportioned with good en suite facilities. I have no hesitation in recommending this old Inn. The upper 2 rooms do have quite a steep narrow access,... More

We booked this hotel at the last minute and did not expect to find an absolute gem. The inn has been operating continuously since mediaeval times and was apparently the Duke of Wellington's HQ before Waterloo. King Charles II was also reputed to have hid in the massive fireplace when on the run from the Parliamentarians. The room we got... More

This is a really nice old inn with tonnes of character. We had a very pleasant dinner in the evening. All in all a nice place to stay in a picturesque village. The only slight negative was the quality of the breakfast which didn't quite live up to expectations but could quite easily be improved. I would recommend and would... More

We had a fantastic two day stay here in the elham valley, we were travelling round england and wales from our home in Glasgow and booked this place for two nights as it looked as though it was full of charecter and history and it certainly hit the mark with us. Elham itself is a lovely little village with close... More

This is a wonderful olde world hotel & restaurant. The place is so full of character. The staff are warm & friendly, the rooms are nice & clean with exposed beams everywhere, the food is excellent & the wines & beer are are very good. This is tucked away in the Elham valley but not too far from either Folkestone or... More

This is a lovely place to stay if you are wandering about in Kent. We stayed here with elderly parents and had a wonderful time. Good meals, clean rooms, more English character than we could have imagined. Between the meals at the Fireside and the "other" place across the street - we had more wonderful dinners than we ever expected... More

We booked American friends into this hotel, they were thoroughly enchanted with both the ambiance of the hotel and the village itself. Nothing was too much bother for the hosts, the continental breakfast was excellent and we were all able to eat together in the restaurant of an evening, we would thoroughly recommend this hotel.

What an utterly beautiful village and lovely hotel to stay in. Abbots' host, John, was genial without being overbearing and very attentive, as were his staff. The room (newly converted loft) was clean and roomy (with low ceilings at side but plenty of space in the middle main part of room). Only had bath, no shower though. Comfy large bed.... More
