We decided to stay the night at the Rose & Crown prior to using Eurotunnel - best decision ever. We had rooms 3 & 4 and they were really spacious, well appointed with very large bathrooms. The evening meal was great. Sons had Hunter chicken and in their words 'Awesome', my wife and I had steak & kidney pie with... More

We do not normally do Bed & Breakfast so we booked this one with more than a little trepidation; also some reports have mentioned that the male staff (with long hair) was surly and rude, and at best unhelpful. These reports are wrong we found the check in staff to be cheerful, helpful and actually quite amusing; we were then... More

The location is excellent for the channel tunnel. The evening meal is okay. The rooms were clean and spacious with lots of character, our problem was the person who seemed to be the landlord was not very helpful, next time we would stay over the road where the character of the pub is much better and the landlord is very... Stayed for one night as it was close to the Channel tunnel, but would have liked to have stayed longer ! Set in a historic and pretty village, the accommodation and service was first class. We enjoyed an excellent evening meal, a very good night's sleep and a delicious freshly cooked English breakfast. The room was spacious, clean and very... More

We stayed for one night with 6 people, it was a real pleasure - great location, just a few minutes drive to motorway, but away from all trafficnoise in a rural village, nice pub (no disturbs!), excellent rooms, great breakfast :-)) The menu looked promising, but the traditional pub food could have been a bit spicier for our taste. We... More

A group of friends stayed here when attending a wedding in nearby Barham and it was perfect! Really laid back and accommodating staff who were really flexible and worked around our needs in terms of arrival and check out. Every member of staff was friendly, the rooms were GREAT: spotlessly clean, fairtrade tea and coffee, and VERY comfortable beds. The... More

We really enjoyed our stay in this lovely Inn with rich history and situated in the middle of a rural and charming village. Well situated to discover the charming Kentish country side as well as Canterbury. The freshly cooked meals and local ales as well as the freshly cooked English breakfast were highly appreciated by us. Rooms are spacious, well... More

Having had a really difficult journey we arrived late at the Rose and Crown. Our hosts could not have been more welcoming or accommodating. Pints were poured and delicious food produced swiftly. With no fuss they made us feel very at home and special. Our double room was charming being put together with great attention to detail. It was very... More

We stayed here for a couple of nights on a mates' walking weekend. Great accommodation in well equipped, spacious, quiet and clean rooms. Terrific pub meal, two excellent breakfasts. Attentive service and well located for exploring the Elham Valley. Highly recommended.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Now under new management, John & Sue welcome you to the Rose & Crown, Elham. Our rooms were once stables from the days when the inn served as a coaching stop on the way to Dover and the coast. The accommodation is located ideally for visiting many tourist attractions and local sites. Elham is a delightful Kentish village nestled in the heart of the Elham Valley, a popular destination for walkers. We are close to Canterbury, Dover and the Channel Tunnel, Ashford International and Sandwich. The pub itself was built in the 16th Century and features oak beams and open fires. It is said the Scarlet Pimpernel used to dine here while he waited for a fresh horse. The north end of the building used to be the local courthouse, and the first game of Bar Billiards in England was played here in 1935. ... more   less
