We visited this hotel for my husbands 60th birthday. We had a hitch with our booking which was sorted out promptly and efficiently. When we arrived at the hotel, the reception staff seemed ok and Angus showed us to our room which was a nice touch. The room itself 'Dalhousie Room' was lovely and very unusual with a long corridor... more

We had a wonderful stay in one of the castle rooms. The staff was very helpful and friendly, great service! We LOVED the Dungeon restaurant. The food was great, but the only complaint was that there was no music. The dining room was eerily quiet as the diners were afraid to raise their voices over a whisper. I guess it... more

Had read all about this hotel and had family stay previously. Paid £125 via Booking.com. Got a castle room for that, wouldn't recommend the lodge, the experience can't be the same. We were a little disappointed with the room - room 15. Door handle needed replacing etc but the main problem was the small size of the room. Guess we... more

I was bridesmaid for my friend here in Sept 09 and the hotel staff were marvellous. They helped ensure that the day ran like clockwork. My friend and groom had travelled from abroad to marry at home in Scotland and I had travelled from Ireland. Everything had already been organised prior to arrival, but a few last minute things put... more

This time was for our Anniversary - 2 years after our wedding. Some familiar faces in the staff which is nice and we got the room I'd tried to get 3 times before - The William Wallace We ate in the Dungeon restaurant on our anniversary the food was very good but the waiter had a body odour problem that... more

We only had a dinner at Dalhouise Castle. When we arrived, we were taken to the library and served fine whisky. You can walk around or inside while you're waiting to be called to the castle dungeon for dinner. They have falconry and other sports available, if you're staying at the hotel or have longer time to spend. It was interesting... more

This was the splurge of our trip, and even though it was expensive, it was well worth it. We stayed in the Louis XV room in the castle, which was quite fancy. Both the bedroom and the sitting room looked out onto the roof, but over the battlements (which reminds you that you're in a castle), you could see the... more

We stayed here because a friend of ours recommended it. I don't I would have chosen it otherwise. It's a fair distance from Edinburgh, it had many not-so-positive reviews, and it had lots of stairs. I LOVED IT! I wrote the properrty before we travelled regarding the rooms. I wanted to be assured that the room had been renovated. It... more

We stayed here for one night in April and it was certainly something different. The castle is very picturesque and surrounded in grounds that we saw deer running through at one point. Our room had a balcony overlooking the grounds and was very 'old world' although the four poster bed was a bit small. There is a cafe and a... more
