"Magical" says it all. 4 stars, and every one of them deserved. Be sure to have a drink in the library before dinner. We ate in the Orangerie - nothing fancy but good food. The staff was, as expected for a luxury hotel, impeccably attentive. I see a review that mentions Jordan, the busboy (I guess that's what you call... More

My wife and I, on honeymoon, discovered this place by accident. My wife wanted to stay in a castle. We were in Edinburgh for the fringe Festival. We went there for one night and ended up spending two nights there. The food was amazing. The service was wonderful. The room is beautiful. Jordan was especially helpful as a concierge to... More

The castle hotel was very atmospheric and in pretty grounds. The room was beautiful, and like I said the staff were great. We ate in the Orangery, and cannot fault either the staff or the quality and value for money of the food. Our only niggle, was that there was no hot water from 5-7pm, when the hotel was at... More

Stayed here for one night in august 2014. I was really looking forward to sleep in a castle. The castle on the outside was really nice, but the room was disappointing and very worn. Made use of the spa which was ok. All in all not worth the price.

This hotel is amazing. The service is great, the scenery is gorgeous and it's just far enough out of Edinburgh to feel remote. We had a wonderful room and loved the library bar. Breakfast was included and was delicious. If you're looking for an intimate venue for a wedding or a romantic break just outside the city this is perfect.

My wife and I stayed here our first night in Scotland during a 2-week tour around Ireland and the Scottish Highlands. We stayed in one castle hotel in Ireland and one in Scotland. While this was more of a "traditional" castle, I was not impressed. While the staff were very friendly, the food was excellent, and the grounds were nice... More

we only spent one night there touring Scotland and I am glad it was only that. Building is very impressive but there is apart from the spa nothing to do, nowhere to go. On arrival we were given room 21 - do avoid . It stuck of dump, shower was dripping and tea/coffee making facilities were shut in the wardrobe.... More
