We stayed here because a friend of ours recommended it. I don't I would have chosen it otherwise. It's a fair distance from Edinburgh, it had many not-so-positive reviews, and it had lots of stairs. I LOVED IT! I wrote the properrty before we travelled regarding the rooms. I wanted to be assured that the room had been renovated. It... more

We stayed here for one night in April and it was certainly something different. The castle is very picturesque and surrounded in grounds that we saw deer running through at one point. Our room had a balcony overlooking the grounds and was very 'old world' although the four poster bed was a bit small. There is a cafe and a... more

This was our one splurge on a two week trip through Scotland. The castle itself is good but the standard twin room is just average and pricey. We stayed in room #28 which did had some stains on the carpet and some torn spots on the wall paper. However, the TV was big, had a number of channels and beds... more

The Dalhousie is quite nice to see from the outside and in. We stayed in the Lady Katherine room (which was an upgrade for us). Bed was very comfortable, room clean, and had a very nice view out two sides of the room. Breakfast was good. We didn't have dinner there, but looked in on the dining room and it... more

We have just returned from an 8-day stay at Dalhousie. I had some concerns because of other traveler reviews and so after making reservations, emailed the castle. I was assured by the manager that we could expect true Scottish hospitality, and it turns out, he was right. We found the castle to be quite beautiful with lovely grounds. Our room... more

The attached photographs that I took on a recent trip to Dalhousie give the viewer an idea of just how dilapadated and overpriced the rooms are. These photos were taken in one of the castle's so called best rooms "Robert the Bruce" Dalhousie Castle's website describes the castle as follows....... "A rich tapestry of arts and culture and recent extensive... more

I had decided that when my partner and I went to Scotland we should stay at a castle and, seeing as this one is not far from Edinburgh, it seemed like a good idea to double as a base for visiting the city. Also, it looked beautiful on its website! And the result? I was not disappointed. It is incredibly... more

This hotel is over priced and extremely sruffy. the whole place could do with a good clean and the paint work redocorated. There were scuff marks on the wallpaper, old looking furniture and a very tired bathroom. The spa showers were mouldy and there was dirt around the edge of the spa pool, which was ridiculous to have to pay... more

My friends and I spent two nights in Dalhousie Castle recently. It was a big birthday for us this year and decided to splash out and do something special to mark the occasion. Although we did enjoy ourselves overall at the castle, the room we stayed in (Robert the Bruce) did not in any way merit the amount of money... more

This castle was about a 28 pounds to get to where you arrive on the most beautiful grounds. There are falcons, walking trails and sites and a great castle and staff. We chose to spend the day there going to the Spa. There are plenty of things to do at the spa for free. I was disappointed to know I... more
