Staff organisation : bad Room : very good The castle itself : lovely But looking slightly tired Spa facility's : excellent Dungeon resturant : excellent Falconry : excellent Hotel would be perfect with a better communication and more motivated staff and the main areas of the hotel need abit of a re-decoration. I expected a stay at a Scottish castle to be a fabled experience so to speak, but Dalhousie was a little less than extraordinary I'm afraid to say. The interior of the castle is nicely decorated with furniture and objects from various periods. Their library is a quintessential one, complete with a giant fireplace, and it was my favorite part... We stayed for a long weekend in January, this being our second visit we already knew what to expect but our experience surpassed even our high expectations. Both the interior and exterior of the building are stunning and the rooms are of the quality and character that are in keeping with this gorgeous building. The dining experience in the Dungeon... I stay in loads of hotels due to my job. They are booked on my behalf so I have no control over where I stay, and, to be honest, I was a bit dubious when I read the reviews about this hotel. I can only assume that the owners of the hotel have made some improvements since those reviews were... More

I wonder whether the General Manager reads any of the reviews of her hotel? We were dubious about booking after having read some shocking reviews on Trip Advisor, but members of our family wanted to stay in a Scottish Castle and this one is closest to Edinburgh. Our four poster room was scruffy, the door did not open properly, and... More

Our balcony door could not open and neither could the windows; had to get it fixed. Restaurant was empty and staff were unhelpful and not cheerful. However FALCONRY was GOOD. More

I booked two nights in room 22, Willam Wallace room.Lovely room with big four poster bed, large enough for 5 people if that is your thing! Nice characterful furniture and super views over the grounds. The bathroom is a good size but a little tired with a flaking bath and a bit of one tap missing. Light bulb out; took 3... More

We approached the hotel after dark (along the rather pot hole holed drive!) and the castle looked amazing in the flood lights. There was plenty of parking too. The check in was efficient but it wasn't explained too well where our room was but we found it eventually. If for any reason you cannot cope with too many stairs this... More

We stayed at the castle for two nights mid jan 2012 and were not disappointed with our choice. The hotel is beautiful to look at and has bags of charm and character. Room was large with 2 seating areas and a large bed and again, lots of character. It was also very quiet and sleep was very easy. There is a... More

We booked this for a break away after new year . The entrance road is a disgrace pot holes everywhere ! We arrived only to have been booked in for another night by mistake. We were upgraded due to the mistake but wonder what the downgrade was - our room was small and the window rattled all night keeping us... More
