So many potentially great things about this Hotel; lovely old building, picturesque setting, friendly staff, good food, spacious rooms... ...but you know how sometimes something just isn't right; details like no wifi in the "superior" rooms, no air con, the aircraft noise of course (which is irritating rather than a major problem) and (on our 18th October visit) a rowdy... I attended a wedding here...which was a fabulous family wedding...but I was disappointed in the accommodation at the hotel....we had booked a two night stay here after travelling 4 hours, the first room offered us (in annexe) was dirty and run down and sadly in need of a good clean and re-decorating...I took the receptionist to see the room who... I recently stayed at this beautiful Hotel in such a beautiful setting with friends for a relaxing break. We were lucky enough to get a really good deal which included Pimms and Cream Tea on the terrace, dinner and breakfast. We upgraded our rooms and stayed in the stable block. The room was huge and the bathroom including a double... More

We had a lovely room in the main hotel. The fixtures and fittings were excellent. Staff were all helpful and friendly. Our room did not have secondary double glazing though, which given the proximity of the airport I would have thought this should be a priority. I found I got used to the noise from the planes and as we... More

I have stayed here on two separate occasions - both times I booked online via the Legacy websites. The first occasion, when I arrived to check in, my booking had been lost. It took quite some persuasion that I had in fact booked, then some time for them to sort me out with a room. In the event, I was... More

Have stayed here on several occasions whilst travelling for business. Staff are extremely helpful and food has always been great but as other reviewers state please be aware that you are in the flight approach path to Stansted airport. The planes do stop/reduce between 23:30 and 05:30 hours and as the beds are comfy you can normally get 6 hours... More

This 14th century building is nicely renovated, clean and the staff are helpful and polite. The main issue for us was the noise. We had a room above a courtyard which had party revellers going until 2 am and at 5-45 am the aeroplanes flew in just above the roof it seemed to land at nearby Stansted airport. The planes... More

My wife and I stayed here a couple of days ago prior to an early morning flight from Stansted. First impressions were that it's a nice building in an attractive setting. The room, although small, was well appointed with a comfortable King Size bed, a Monsoon-type shower with plenty pressure, free Wi Fi and tea/coffee/hot chocolate making facilities and posh... More

We chose to stay in the hotel because of its proximity to Stansted airport and we enjoyed a pleasant overnight stay. Our room was spacious, attractively furnished and very clean. It had twin beds pushed together to make a double and a large bathroom with a wet-room shower. The room had a good size desk with a very good chair... More

When we drove up to the Hotel it looked fantastic and I wasn't disappointed, a beautiful Manor house set in lovely grounds, we had a lovely big room and bathroom all spotlessly clean, however that's where it ends for me, we were adjacent to the kitchen and had the vent going full pelt until late and then early in the...
