I am very lucky to have such a nice pub in walking distance from my home with a true English pub atmosphere. The food is always excellent and the service is friendly and efficient. The pub is very active with social events and I am a member of their club. Also it is dog friendly which is a bonus for... More

Had a really nice lunch on Saturday, had the chilli beef and my family had ham and chips and fish and chips. I perhaps would have like a few tortilla chips and sour cream which you get when paying far less in Wetherspoons for example.

My son was being posted at Middle whallop army base so we decided to book into here, It is a quaint little pub with acomodation to match, The rooms used to be the old firestation with a lovely thatched roof. All the staff were really pleasant friendly and helpful,During our stay there was a birthday function and all the locals... More

Party of five ate on Saturday 23rd may, bowmans swift ale perfect, but make sure you have a full pint !! Bar girl not a clue! That said the meals were a good size & tasty, will return, could do with a tidy up on entrance.

Arrived late after a long journey but received a very warm and friendly welcome from the owners. We had booked a twin and double. Both very large, clean rooms with spacious bathrooms but the decor was in need of updating and bathrooms need replacing. The beds were very uncomfortable and the buzzing fridge (home to a continental breakfast, not very... More

We booked through "Booking.com" and on arrival had a bad feeling about the property, the general condition of the pub looked run down but as we had already guarenteed the room with a credit card went on in, cancellation fees are 100% up to a week from date of arrival. The room smelled musty and the bed linen felt damp,... More

Damp smelling room, awful settee torn and faded - in fact I could not work out why it was in the room as it was only fit for the tip the bedroom suite was fine and did not need this in the room, peeling bathroom ceiling, inside of bathroom door was filthy, breakfast laid out as 2 boxes of cereal... We choose to dine at the Coach and Horses following a day at Thruxton Race Circuit, we were a little put off by the outside appearance but once inside we received a warm welcome from the staff and found a table in the main bar area and perused the menu. There was quite a reasonable choice and both myself and... More

Three of us popped in for dinner on a Friday night during the Easter holidays. The place was very busy, which seemed a good sign. I noticed that the meals others around me were eating were very generous in size. I had chicken madras with rice, which was acceptable. My mother in law had scampi and chips, which tends to... More
