This is a hotel of two sides, the down stairs is nice but the rooms are a bit dated! They are a little on the small side with slightly tired bathrooms not that it wasn't clean etc. The restaurant for breakfast was very nice. The staff very helpful and prompt. I was welcomed warmly even though I checked in at... More

Very Comfortable bed, plenty of hot water and extra teabags if you ask! On arrival I was shown to my room - such a nice touch and unusual even in higher starred hotels, early morning call (Telephone) - called - unlike some. I stayed for 2 nights, would I stay again?...yes, without a doubt, a real home from home. Reception... More

The breakfasts here are outstanding. Lots of specially cooked options - the smoked haddock and poached egg was particularly good. The home made granola and muesli was also superb. Everything was tasty and excellent quality. The restaurant in the evening was also very good. The hotel is very pleasant although a couple of corridor spaces feel a little dated. The... More

Christmas meal for about 50 people - excellent restaurant-standard food and quick friendly service. Very helpful staff who willingly provided us with a buffet breakfast when we came down half-an-hour after end of breakfast service.

I stayed here unexpectedly after my original hotel was unable to accommodate me - I was pleasantly surprised at how lovely this hotel is. My room was warm and clean if a tad small (very small but it did have a double bed and it was fine with just one person in the room - it could have got a... More

We stayed here for one night as a stopover. The first room, No 36, had no heating and a very small double bed so I asked to be moved to a different room. After some considerably time we were then moved to room 28. This was clean and perfectly adequate but very small. As this was supposed to be a... More

Down in Bristol area for a family wedding at nearby Old Down Manor. Eleven of us stayed on Friday 23 October 2015, then two returned on Saturday 24th and, finally eight of us back on Sunday 25th. Despite our comings and goings the staff were very pleasant and helpful. Their personal attention to our party went a long way to... More

Food was good. Menu varied and three different menus to choose from. But the service was very slow. The restaurant was not particularly busy although there was a party of about 8 which a seemed to cause the problem. Not keen on the having to go to reception to pay by card either.

I have never stayed in a hotel in which the staff were so helpful and friendly. From the moment we arrived until the moment we left. The room was spot on and breakfast excellent. All perfect for a smallish countryish hotel. Very convenient for the wedding we went to at Thornbury castle. Thank you

A small but very comfortable Hotel that put the guests first with pleasant attentive staff for which nothing was too much trouble. Although the rooms were not huge they were clean and the bed very comfortable. The food was of a high quality with a good varied menu. I would not hesitate to use this hotel in the future.
