The Boreland Lodge is what it is...budget accommodation mainly used by workers, however it's dog friendly and the staff are extremely helpful and friendly. A slight problem with our initial room on arrival resulted in them moving us promptly to another. The rooms are small (some more than others) and in need of refreshing, however adequate for a short stay.... More

We had a family suite - 2 rooms separated by an open doorway. Fairly good bathroom. Also a conservatory with dining table which we didn't use due to the very short stay we had. The room was fine for overnight stay. Excellent, helpful staff. No evening meal available but we ordered a chinese takeaway delivered direct to the bar which... More

Just spent three nights in the smallest hotel room I have ever been in. I knew the price was very reasonable but to sleep a metre from the toilet bowl is not pleasant. Not even room for a bedside table. Bar supposed to be open until 10 but when we got in at 9.25 on a Saturday night it was... More

This hotel is totally inadequate. The rooms are small, dark and dingy. The ensuite bathroom was so small it was difficult to get into and dress. Tiny room and with a damp and dingy smell. We used this hotel as there was no accommodation in Edinburgh. Hotel is located in Inverkeithing, a half hour train ride away. The only restaurant... More

The rooms are tiny the bedding very poor quality, the location well there is nothing in inverkeithing except a train station with excellent links to other towns which do have restaurants. You do get what you pay for and this was cheap we were visiting family in the area otherwise I would have stayed elsewhere! Breakfast was poor though for... More

Limited for choice due to Ryder Cup weekend. Good parking, room ok but small, bed linen clean. Walls very thin and floors creak so woken early. Very noisy when running taps/showers. Breakfast was chaotic as owner/manager seems to do everything. He was very friendly though.

The Boreland Lodge hotel is like a lodging house, with tiny rooms purporting to be "doubles" not possible! when my husband and I who had ben touring prior to arrival and had a suitcase each, after putting them in the room, there was little space for us. The carpets and decor need a serious upgrade and makeover. It is such... More

Traveling to the UK for the first time. Tattoo week saw limited rooms available, but at 50 Pounds, we couldn't beat the price. Travelocity screwed up the reservation by booking us on the wrong date, but Boreland was still able to accommodate us. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the room was clean but very small. Bed wase comfortable... More

A Bank Holiday weekend during the Edinburgh Fringe and the Tattoo was not the ideal time to try to find an Edinburgh Hotel and all seemed fully booked and very expensive. Inverkeithing is a 30 minute £10 train ride away and the Boreland Lodge is a 10 minute uphill walk from the station. So far so good. A look at... More

At present, there are better places to stay than the Boreland Lodge Hotel. This establishment needs to make certain changes in their operation to obtain a better rating. There was an unacceptable amount of mildew on the walls of the bathroom for my room. I try to be not overly sensitive to mildew in damp climates such as in the... More
