strongly advise people not to waste their time in this "hotel". The receptionist was some kind of half-animal creature that did not have the capability to string a sentance together and instead chose to greet guests and answer queries with a series of grunting noises. The room was tiny, with some kind of strange shelving at the head of the... more

i stayed in the boreland for 4 nights during the busy festival season and found it to be clean, comfortable and the satff were FIRST CLASS, the rooms were quite small however the price we paid refelected the cost. We would not hesitate to stay there again and intend to rebook for new year more

A drunken waitress serving breakfast after a sleepless night on a lumpy mattress is NOT 2 star service. This hotel makes Fawlty Towers look palatial! The room was very 'dated',dirty and there was evidence of mice. Breakfast was okay AFTER the waitress was sent packing for being under the influence. Could'nt wait to check out. more

We are surprised by the positive comments here, we consider this to be the worst hotel we ever stayed in. Our previous experiences with hotels and B&B's in Scotland were very good, but this was just dirty and highly unpleasant. Personnel, though friendly, often gave a drunken impression. Despite this being our worst stay during the entire holiday it was... more

If we had more time and new the area better we would have moved on first seeing the accomodation. I agree with Mrs Needles, the rooms and shower etc were filthy had to boil a kettle for a shave! Not a hotel for the faint hearted! more

Arrived late at night to be shown to a room where I didn't want to put anything down. The carpets and bathroom were filthy, the bedding suspect. The bar was overrun with belching builders and the only thing edible about the breakfast was the toast we made ourselves (after removing the outside slices from the pile of bread that had... more

We stayed here for a long weekend with two young children, we were greeted by a nice young woman who welcomed us and showed us our rooms, basic but what do you expect!!. The couple who were managing it had only started running it for a month or so and were new to the hotellier game, both very nice people... more

I stayed at Boreland Lodge Hotel for three nights, and I found it to be perfect for my needs. My room was immaculate each day with fresh sheets and towels provided. Eating in the bar was a pleasure with a nice selection of good food at affordable prices. The staff were courteous - more than that, they went out of... more
