We've been to the Ken Bridge many times and dropped by on our way back from Prestwick Airport hoping for something to eat. It was 8.40pm, 14 June, mid Summer, the World Cup was on and everywhere was busy. We were told the kitchen closed at 8.30pm and when I asked if they could perhaps provide something simple was firmly... More

Our restaurant is open from 5.30pm to 8.30pm, this lady arrived at 8.40pm by her own admission, our kitchen was closed and cleaned down and chefs had left. What have we done wrong, guilty of closing when we say we will close, guilty of being an eating establishment in Dumfries and Galloway or guilty of having clientel with access to... More

My wife and I recently attended a 60th wedding anniversary celebration within the hotel and decided to stay the night. On arrival we received a very friendly traditional 'Scottish Greeting' and were surprised to see that we had been given a room with one double/two single beds. There were the usual tea/coffee, flat screen TV and a very modern en-suite... More

We stayed recently in our motor home on the hotels' small campsite adjacent on the river bank. We had a very warm welcome and duly got settled in. It's location by the river is idyllic and sitting outside in the sun supping a pint of real beer is as good as it gets. Situated a short way from so many... More

With a party of four we had an excellent meal in beautiful surroundings at this hotel on the banks of the river. Food was excellent, service very efficient and a nicely relaxed atmosphere. Real ale on tap also made it a good night around..

Stayed here many times a few years ago so ignore the date later on. Tripadvisor don't make provision for historical reviews which makes sense really. I will try to restrict this review to things that will not have, or are unlikely to, have changed, Nice location next to a river. Adequate rooms if a bit small (some of them).Food excellent... More

Came for the Carvery after a week caravanning at Loch Ken. It's a long time since I've been anywhere with such good and friendly service from all the staff. Sadly one of the dinner guests in another party fell over during lunch but she was well looked after until an ambulance arrived. The roast meats on the Carvery were delicious... More

Good food. Nice ambience in restaurant overlooking River Ken. Comfortable bedroom at rear of hotel. Handy for red kite viewing nearby. Nice cafe in New Galloway about 2.5 miles away. Pleasant circular tour around Loch Ken by road.

Stayed still this hotel for 2 nights as I was working in the area. It was very good. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Rooms were basic but clean. Food was excellent. Would definitely stay again.

A full car park is always a good sign. Took my wife and her sister for the Sunday Lunch Carvery. At £10.95 per head it was excellent value and a first class carvery with a choice of Beef, Lamb and Pork. Piping hot vegetables and gravies. Desserts at £5.95 each were also excellent. Friendly service and reasonably priced drinks. Overall... More

Attractive building in a scenic riverside location. Great area for outdoor pursuits. We've stayed here several times and have always found Dave, Sue, and the staff to be friendly and attentive. All the bedrooms we've stayed in have been very tastefully furnished and the beds have lovely thick duvets in wintertime! Always a good selection of food on the menu... More
