A warm welcome from Richard and Clare. Comfortable and spacious rooms. Great food in a delightfully unfussy and unpretentious manner. In fact everything is nicely understated making for a relaxed stay at a very reasonable price. Do check out Harrington's paintings.

I have returned to the Marchbank on route to Scotland , an ideal stop over point . This day I arrived early and still received a "would you like a pot of tea" greeting. Richard and Family provide a personal service that is second to none. Richards cooking is Masterchef quality .....when will he apply to go on the show... More

My wife and I went to the Marchbank Hotel this year by way of a change. The food was superb. I started with scallops, followed with venison medallions for my main meal. My wife's starter was lobster, followed by a main of salmon. We both finished with sticky toffee pudding, which was beautifully cooked, very light and very flavoursome. We... More

We visit this area 4 or 5 times a year and have tried all the hotels in the surrounding area. The Marchbanks stands head and shoulders above the rest. A family hotel which is friendly and spotlessly clean. The food is excellent and the rooms comfortable and great value.

Warm and humorous welcome as always. Lovely views from front rooms and great purple chairs! Evening meal was delicious and service fab - perfect for our family/friends get together. Breakfast was not to be missed, great choice and superbly cooked.

We stopped here again on September 12th on our way back from holiday in Scotland. We stayed in a beautiful room at the front of the hotel with an antique four poster bed. Although tired from a long journey we received a warm welcome from Mr and Mrs Moore who recognised us from our previous visits. We were looking forward... More

My wife and I spent the first 2 nights of our holiday here. I can't say that there was anything particularly wrong but we stayed at better places for the rest of the holiday (some cheaper some more expensive). The room was spotless and a good size and very comfortable however there was no shower over the bath so when... More

Just returned from a stay at the Marchbank, much to our surprise we were shown to an annexe called The Bothey, what an absolute delight wholly self contained and of high. quality. Richard is a great host and damn good chef as well. Will we return? You bet!!!
