Stayed here over the Christmas break. It is the perfect location to access much of the south west, within walking distance of some stunning walks. We took a rather brisk walk to the coast, found a beautiful cove, with seals lazing in the sea just off the shore. The hotel does great food, we had an inclusive option, I can... More

This 13th century manor house is full of artifacts and paintings and takes you back to a different time. It's comfortable, welcoming, the staff are lovely and the food is excellent, if rather expensive.A good place for a treat or celebration. The floors are very creaky, as you would expect in a building of this age. Good place for touring.

A really friendly place and an old building that's full of character. Dog-friendly in the bar area and popular with the locals. Well kept, hand pulled real ales, chilled cider and delicious roast dinners on a Sunday. Definately worth a visit!

Only had lunch here. The setting was excellent, tucked away by an old country church. Quite a good range of food available but it was relatively expensive and only average when we got it. Good cold cider though. Worth a visit if only for the romantic setting. The day we visited the downstairs toilets were blocked and we had to... More

We stayed for 2 nights 15th/16th March in the Francis Drake Suite, one of the superior rooms with a four poster bed.I can't fault it in any way! The staff were all v friendly, the bath water was hot,the bed comfy and the food was lovely. The hotel is so old and atmospheric, making it one of the most romantic & magical... More

I love this place and can't wait to go back yet again. My husband and I first had the pleasure of staying here probably about 9 years ago, having stumbled upon it by accident whilst staying at a chalet park nearby. As soon as we saw the delightful old building and had a look round, we just knew that we... More

This was our 3rd visit to this charming hotel, staying early feb, we really enjoyed our stay, beautiful room, excellent food, lovely medieval atmosphere...but a lack of hot and only lukewarm water which we hadn't encountered before. My husband informed reception and they said there was a problem with the boiler, they said we could switch to a standard room but... More

This is a charming and picturesque hotel. It has been sympathetically developed to provide all modern amenities while maintaining many of its original features. The restaurant menu offered very good variety and the food was excellent. Very comfortable and well equipped rooms.

Went for a weekend stay in January 2014. Don't be fooled by the cut price offers ! When we arrived the room was cold , the heating was luke warm and there was no hot water of sorts. We have a luke warm shower. We mentioned this to staff member - " I will report it to maintenance ! "... More
