Made a nice change to get special attention from friendly hosts. The food here is mostly home cooked and to an excellent standard. The rooms in this small hotel are a lille dated but who cares the friendly atmosphere of the whole place more than makes up for it. A plentiful breakfast overlooking a view that you just do not... Hubby had used the pub lunch time with his group of trail riders and having just had a poor meal at the Haford, his face was a picture when I said we were going back for the evening meal, he had not eaten there and it turned out the bar they used must be used a lot by hikers and... More

What a fantastic, small family run hotel. Great service matched by excellent food. The mixed grill was brilliant and a very generous portion. If you are looking for a hotel where you are made to feel at home then look no further. I was here on business so the fast wifi was an unexpected bonus.

We stayed here on 17th March, what a cracking place. Situated on the main road but once inside, you can't hear any traffic. We arrived just before 8 and luckily the owner greeted us and promptly took our food order while we settled in with a Guinness (or five). Couldn't fault the meal nor the drinks, fair selection of beers... More

In a super spot for exploring the local hills. Very welcoming and helpful staff. Room (number 4) was small, but I was told about that in advance so no complaint. Ensuite bathroom was also very small. Bed was comfortable. Basic tea/coffee facilities, nothing special. Food is what I would describe as "good basic pub food". Hit the spot after a... More

This isn't a 4 or 5 star hotel, is not advertised a such, and shouldn't be expected - it is what it is ! This is a return visit for me and I had booked 5 rooms for 2 nights for our party. Upon arrival we were met by the owner (Karen) who, although extremely busy on this particular lunchtime,... More

I stayed at this hotel, with my partner, back in July. We were both graduating from Aberystwyth University, and after not finding any accommodation within a closer radius to the university, we chose the George Borrow, and I am very glad we couldn't find a hotel closer. When we arrived, we were met with a lovely woman who was perfectly... More

We stopped over for a night after a stormy walk up the local mountains. Very happy with the place. Comfortable room, cosy bar and the food is home cooked and good value. View from the restaurant is really nice, looking over the hills. If the sun is out then it rises over one of them. Very pleasant owners too.

We stayed here for a weekend as the hotels in town were fully booked, the location is great with an amazing view from the garden and the rooms on the south side. It is located about 30 min from Aberystwyth so it is convenient if you want to be close to town but not in the centre. The hotel is... More
