We decided to saty here on a whim as we despeately needed a few days away as a whole family, dogs included. We travelled for 5 hours to get there and it was worth it. Greeted with a great big bowl of spag bol for all of us and a little bowl for my son as well. The food was... More

Owner was friendly to start with but then changed her tune, becoming frosty and unwilling to pay attention and serve food to guests. She was more pre occupied with her dogs and her own friends staying in the house at the time. The meal portions were tiny and not value for money. There was no choice of menu and we... More

Sadly we only got a short overnight stay in a pretty part of Wales. Arrived very late in the evening. Lovely welcome by the owner. Room was good, spacious and comfortable with a great view over the countryside. Shame we were off so early the next morning to work.

Ffynonwen is a perfect place to relax and recharge ones' batteries! We were desperate to find somewhere were our dog would be welcomed as much as us and we have found it here. Neil and Stef are very friendly hosts, anxious to make sure that your stay is a good as possible. As other visitors have commented, Ffynonwen is not... More

What a lovely spot Ffynonwen is set in ....Sadly I have to agree that this place COULD be a gold mine but is in need of some care and attention which is a shame ...We had a reasonable price for BB&EM and stayed for 3 nights there were new carpets in the room and it was freshly painted , beds... We stayed here and though as others say it is basic, we felt welcomed and at ease in the guesthouse. We did not feel as if we where being monitored or expected to stay out all day as most B&B's. We had a really good sleep both nights we where there and it was our alarm which woke us for... More

Driving down the narrow access road, we were starting to wonder what we would see at the end. Parking in the courtyard, we got a huge welcome from Steph and invited in. Whilst the guest house is not your usual 'flashy' B&B, it has a real charm of its own. The rooms are well presented and didn't need a TV... More

After a visit to the Big pit coal mine and museum my daughter and her partner took my wife and I to the FFynon Wen Country Guest house and restaurant where we had booked a table by phone, a few days before we had all registered by E mail and on arrival were given our first drink free of charge... I was very impressed with ffynonwen, Steph and Neil were so welcoming and helped me with my luggage and with the best places to walk my dogs (Henry and Belle) who were very comfortable in our lovely bedroom. The food was excellent, and we stayed for 7 nights and it felt like home from home without the cooking, lovely. The... More
