We recently spent a weekend at the Golden Ball as part of a touring holiday and really enjoyed our stay. Everyone was friendly and helpful, the rooms were comfortable and clean and the food was tasty and very well cooked and presented. The menu is quite extensive, with specials also available each day. The dining areas were obviously popular with... More

Sorry for the feeble pun!!!! Boxwoorth is a village just off the wonderful A14. As mentioned in my previous review, this road is not a conduit but merely an ongoing blockage in the bowels of the British transport network. It was much more fun in my youth because way back then it had just three lanes. The thinking of the... More

We were staying with relatives in the area and we had a meal there on Saturday night. We had not booked and it was obviously very popular, however a table was found for the four of us. A very welcoming atmosphere and excellent food all served by friendly people. Tasted delicious and well presented. We will be back.

An excellently run hotel and pub, with very friendly owners, who give you all their attention. The rooms have everything that you need, and even a bath (and shower) which is getting quite rare these days. Good, above average pub food in the restaurant, and lots of it, and for breakfast the next day.

We stayed for a Saturday night in July, arriving at lunchtime on the Saturday and leaving after breakfast on Sunday. On arrival we were pleasantly greeted and booked in without fuss even though we were two hours early for registration. We took lunch in the bar area - excellent steak pudding and lovely crab and avocado salad, well presented and... More

We stayed one night for a family party in the area. The room was clean and well equipped. Good hot shower, plenty of towels and toiletries. Thank fully there was a hairdryer as I'd forgotten mine my only comment was that it was a bit awkward to get the hairdryer between the sliding doors of the wardrobe to be able... More

What a place! Situated outside of Cambridge is a hidden juwel that will not be a secret for very long. We had the good fortune to spend two relaxing days here. The rooms are very clean, well kept, and spacious on top. The wifi is good quality as well. The restaurant is hard to top; all of the day's specials... More

The food here is always varied and delicious...lots of choice from menu abd an extensive 'specials' board. Tho on this visit our trip was let down by the very rickety old garden furniture...extremely wobbly and unstable..i sat on a gatden bench and it crumbled beneath me..shame as the weather was lovely,so with no tables that felt sturdy enough we had... Thank you for your kind comments. We are really sorry about your recent experience and the fact that you could not use the garden furniture. We had recently noticed that it had not over-wintered as well as we had hoped and are already in the process of replacing all of the outside tables in the coming weeks. We will effect... More

Stayed overnight last weekend following a wedding nearby at Bourn Golf Club. The pub is located at the top of the village and is well-maintained and in a pretty location. We had a nice clean room with good bathroom facilities and an excellent shower. The room had a well stocked hospitality tray and there was a good supply of towels... More
