This hotel / pub / restaurant could be such a fabulous place. We live nearby and it has arguably the best beer garden in the region and a fantastic historical building setting but it is run appallingly. We keep trying to return only to find it gets worse with each visit. Dreadful, grumpy, overly fussy about 'what you can eat... More

We visited this hotel in June 2015 for our wedding anniversary. So we were looking for a special place, to treat ourselves for a w/e without the kids. On the plus side, the location was delightful, the Thames & Hurley all lovely. The hotel our "luxury" room was spacious, with a comfy bed & pillows. However, we left our weekend... More

We have a lovely stay at The Bell. However, I can't help but think the place is missing a trick. To get this place onto a par with the likes of the pig in Brockenhurst they have to change a few things. For a start £279 for a top room should mean a luxury space, this was not the case,... More

Very picturesque old pub in a nice village. Most of the rooms are in a separate location in separate buildings across the road in the car park. The rooms in Bell Lodge where we stayed are small, expensive, badly lit and very basic. There is no wardrobe, just some hangers on some pegs on the wall. No drawers and no... More

Stopped into the bar Sunday evening to try the bar menu. Limited but enough for most people. The fish and chips were very good with a decent piece of fresh cod cooked in a brilliant home made beer batter. The burger was tasty and both came with excellent chips. Shame the place looks so run down and gloomy. The handrails... More

We booked the Olde Bell as part of a wedding party. Lovely location, lots of old world charm. The rooms were comfortable but our, room 5, didn't have a mirror apart from one in the bathroom so we had to " borrow " a friends. The room was small but adequate. Breakfast very good. Not much atmosphere in the bar... More

Arrived Friday night, room was pretty good but it had a really strange smell (29). I was told the rate was £165 per night (we stayed 2 nights) however just before we were due to stay I checked the availability on their website and the room rate was £99. I rang and queried and a very disgruntled member of staff... More

Someone call Alex Polizzi, this place desperately needs her help!! What could be a fantastic hotel owing to its location and potentially beautiful building is just tired and in need of a total refurb. We paid £219 for a room including breakfast, the room had all the charm of a school dormitory, the bed was comfortable but the room was... More

I travel a lot with business and frequent hotels on a weekly basis, I can honestly say this hotel is over priced in poor condition should not be more than a 2 star, service was extremely poor when it actually arrives. The is very dated with no concern for customer comfort, the shower was less powerful then tipping a cup... More

This hotel has a great location and long history but the classic rooms are below par in my opinion. So be careful and pay extra for a better room if you can . I stayed this week during Royal Ascot and the hotel was full but my classic room was very basic and not very clean with cobwebs in the... More

I will be speaking with my housekeeping department to implement corrective training so that we learn from this and make the required improvements. We have... More
