This is - seriously - a 1,000+ year old castle. As a South African, staying in anything that old is unheard of. So it's almost surreal. The feeling of ancient lives and lifestyles is easily imagined, and this makes it a very special place to be. Bedrooms are large and comfy, and bathrooms very adequate. BUT the experience is not... My cousin had her wedding at the Castello di Pavone, and indeed that is an amazing location for such an event! The view is really beautiful, the castle at night is breath taking! If you travel by train, you can go to Ivrea, and take a taxi to the castle, it's about 13 euros, which is quite reasonable. I was... More

My wife and I spend our 33rd wedding aniversary traveling on a weeklong adventure through northern Italy. We spent two nights at this castle, one of which was our actually date, and it was nothing short of spectacular! If you love castles, you must stay here!! We booked a larger suite up in one of the towers and we felt... More

My husband and I stayed here one night because we thought it would be cool to stay in a castle, it was. We had a suite in the tower and the room was good sized and comfortable with satellite tv. The bathroom was big, included a tub and had double sinks. The included breakfast was really good and there was... More

First you see the castle far away from the highway and the closer you drive, more magical it becomes. Finding the guests entrance of the fortress in the village of Pavone isn't easy, even with a GPS! You have to go behind the castle, leave your car in an open parking, climb at least 100 steep stairs and ring the... More

My wife and I stayed the one night. This old castle has been completely renovated and refurbished to an excellent high standard. You feel as if you have been transported back to the time of the knights of old. It is lavishly furnished. We were in room 456 with lovely views. The bathroom had the full range of toiletries which... More

We booked this hotel as we were looking for something quiet on our return back from our holiday. Upon booking, we asked for a quiet room however upon arrival, we were told that a Wedding was happening on the evening and that the music would stop at midnight. At the time, as explained, I wished I would have been informed... More

We certainly felt it... even though I suspect much of the castle has been rebuilt. It still evokes a middle ages feeling, and we spent plenty of time just sitting in the castle square, reading and soaking in the vibes. Highly recommended!

It was 2 am. We had finally made it through the Great St. Bernard Tunnel. We had passed Aosta, but now had a seriously crying baby and needed a place to sleep. The first place we called was full up. They suggested Catello di Pavone. They had space, but the rate they quoted seemed high (165 Euros). Given the circumstances... More

Stayed here in 2 rooms with my family (5 in total). A very unique place and we really enjoyed it. Staff were very helpful in getting bags to the room and we ate in the restaurant on the night we stayed. The meal was the best we had on our 7 week holiday through Europe. Would thoroughly recommend it ...
