We had an overnight stay in Malham - just up the road from this pub - and decided to try the Lister Arms for an evening meal. It is nicely situated in the village and the first thing that struck me on entering (no, it wasn't an oak beam) was the clean, fresh and open décor - a bit like... More

The Lister Arms, a rural retreat with much to recommend it. For a start, it’s genuinely dog friendly. In fact there’s a laidback vibe that permeates the place that really is just the ticket after a day walking through the Dales. Our room was pleasant, tastefully arranged and clever in its use of space (who would a thought a shower,... More

Haveing visited the Lister and stayed before, our latest vist was a little disappointed. Food was not up to its normal standards, nice but portion size decreased and not what was stated on the menu. Needs a new lick of paint as the pub getting worn. That said the staff were first class and more than helpful. Would I stay/vist... More

Along with my wife we recently had a 2 night stay in the Lister Arms, Malham. We stayed in one of their "feature "rooms which was excellent. Warm, comfortable with huge bed and settee and arm chairs. When we went down to the bar for our evening meal on the first night we were asked if we wanted a table... More

From the warm relaxed welcome, to the Morris curtains and flagstone floors of the pub, to the beautiful comfortable rooms, to the great beers, to the wonderful views, to the delicious food (including the very best chips I've ever tasted), to the games in the pub, to the dog-friendly bar (with the very largest Labrador retriever I've ever seen), this... Just stayed at the Lister for a weekend with a few friends (plus others who stayed down the road). Great bar with range of decent beers, plenty of room, warm and characterful. All staff were friendly, service was excellent at all times. My room (6) was really comfortable and quiet. Great view. Evening meals and brekfasts were excellent - paricularly... More

The Lister Arms is in a lovely location for walking in the Malham area and is great for a weekend or short break. I really wanted it to live up to its 4 star status and to rate it higher but there are a few things that need some attention first before it can reach that luxury status. We stayed... More

As a walking group we stopped at the Lister Arms in the hope of some good grub. The drinks were lovely but the food was very average for the price we paid. £6 for two slices of bread and a slice of ham was rather disappointing and 4 chips for an extra £2.50 was really cheeky. Lovely place, lovely drinks... More

I stayed here for 3 nights in February and had a fantastic stay. The village of Malham is tiny- very atmospheric and the perfect base to explore the Goredale scar, Malham Cove. Our bedroom was beautifully decorated with all the amenities we needed. We had plenty of space to hang out wet walking gear to dry after a day out... More

Having eaten here a couple of times before Christmas, we were already impressed with the food and service. Our stay for Valentine Weekend did not disappoint. We had a lovely room and the food was excellent again, the service was very attentive and helpful and there is an excellent choice of real ales. There are plenty of walks from the... More
