We have stayed here four times, three in the hotel and once in the guest house and we keep coming back. I've just booked again for June. We simply cannot find anywhere better in the area. The rooms are fantastic, all different, and have real charm and character. We stayed in the top floor of the guest house which is... More

The original part of the hotel is a charming nineteenth-century building (apparently it was once a tobacco factory) with impressive surviving detail including original floors, doors, windows and wooden staircase. The hotel is almost next door to Poperinge's attractive little central square which has some nice pubs (see separate entry). A bit disappointingly our room was in the modern annex... More

The Hotel Recourt (we stayed in a small satellite facility). The place was spectacular -- quant, large, well-appointed and quiet. We really liked the rooms and the staff were really helpful. A great choice -- and it was nice being away of Ypres, which was rather busy in comparison.

we stayed here for 4 nights 9th-13th nov 2014. Room was very warm and windows did not open for fresh air. Jacuzzi bath in our room but only over bath shower with no curtain or screen making it difficult to shower. First night after check in the manager let himself into our room in the early hours, before realising we... More

We spend a few days in "Flanders Fields" area, stayed at hotel Recour as it is perfectly located amidst the sites around. Stayed in Urania suite, it was just perfect, well appointed, romantic and all required amenities present. Including a hot steam shower. Welcome was warm and efficient, breakfast was excellent only the location of the breakfsat room is a... More

My wife and I spent 3 nights at Hotel Recour at the start of a 10 ten-day visit to Belgium and France in early September. The hotel is beautiful and our room was spacious and very comfortable. Unlike other beds we've had in European hotels, our room (Erato) had a king sized bed. It also had a terrace overlooking the... More

The hotel had lots of character and is just off the main square. A very comfortable - and huge - bed in our room under the eaves. Decorated in a very individual and charming way. The decor was a bit tired and could do with refreshing. Some exposed wires on a plug by the wall; lovely stand-alone bathtub, but not... More

I generally prefer to stay in modern hotels, so it was rather a surprise to find how much I enjoyed my stay in Hotel Recour, which was furnished with period furniture. We had a lovely room with a very grand bathroom and a balcony that overlooked attractive gardens. We enjoyed the breakfast, which had locally-sourced food. We had a problem... More

When I booked I spoke to a helpful lady and we were looking forward to staying. On arrival we were greeted by an elderly gent who said were we staying for breakfast, a good evening would have been nicer. We went up the tiny slow lift to the room and we walked the staircase as the lift was full with... More

We stayed here for a couple of nights. We stayed in the annex and found it very comfortable - we'd read reviews here so it did not come as a disappointment or surprise. The restaurant was excellent - fine dining in beautiful period rooms. It's very near to Ypres and Passiondale (where there's a great museum about WW1 and reconstruction... More
