In this instance the rainbow for me was the 9km drive once off the Pan-American Highway. It's an unpaved road very hilly, twisty and slippery at this time of year. I never have the opportunity to off-road in London and as we'd rented a 4x4 (An absolute MUST if hiring a car in Costa Rica) this was a bit of... More

We stayed at this hotel for a couple of nights just to make my life long dream of seeing the Quetzals come true! Decent rooms, beautiful location, and the restaurant had a good spread at the buffet. Since we are vegetarians, they gladly accommodated us and the chef made us a couple of great meals. We hired a guide recommended... More

Sadly, I only stayed one night in this place, but I really enjoyed it; it was my favorite place out of 6 places I stayed in Costa Rica. For starters, it's an unusual location and the story of the family who began it is inspiring, to say the least. It is beautiful, yet low key. Our room had a fireplace,... More

This lodge is at 7500' so can be very cold in the morning and evening, but warm during the day. I stayed in a superior chalet with large comfortable bed, safe, coffee making facilities, heater, log fire, hanging space, clock/radio and a sunken bath. There was plenty of hot water. It is set in beautiful, colourful gardens with lots of... More

An excellent place to kick back and watch hummingbirds by the dozens! We stayed here with family and friends - the accommodations were excellent and the food at the lodge was very good, if a little repetitive. This is primarily a birder's paradise (isn't all of Costa Rica?). The hummingbirds feed aggressively from the numerous feeders throughout the lodge's well... More

Final location on our photo tour. great site with excellent accommodations. There is a actual fireplace in the rooms. The place is known for its birding with many different species. The food was good and fresh but served buffet style so some of the food dried out in the servers

My wife and I recently stayed at this hotel and were quite pleased. The hotel is located about 9 km off the main road. The road to the hotel is gravel/rock so it will take you approximately 20 - 25 minutes to get to the hotel. You should drive slow and take in the beautiful scenery. It is quite impressive... More

We stay on October the property is Wonderful, Great Spa Services + Gourmet Restaurant + Cozy & comfortable Units. But the top knock is the amazing design by the owners, they just make a paradise with all requirements, they think on the Wildlife & Environment. Also they find the way to put everything together in this Amazing location, they think... More

I am an avid birder and nature lover, and I fully expected to love this lodge. I must be fair and say that we didn't give it a fair shake, as we arrived after dark and left the next morning early. I was hoping to return later to bird the property, as I'd opted to spend this day on a... More

If you are a nature lover, especially a bird lover, this is the place for you. First of all, there were hummingbird feeders and other bird feeders all over the property. There were beautiful birds everywhere I looked. A short hike down the road with my group led us to see resplendent quetzals, both male and female, plus many other... More
