My husband and I and another couple birding couple spent two nights (and three glorious days) at this beautiful spot in the Costa Rican highlands. Every moment, from the friendly greeting at check-in to the gracious farewell at check-out, was a joy. The cabins were spotless, the beds were excellent, and the bathroom (with tub large enough for two) was... More

Stayed at this nature lodge for 3 nights in February 2015. Access road steep, hilly and narrow with sharpe corners, but worth the drive. This is a serious bird lovers destination. They have guided hikes for all levels with naturalist, and you will find some very serious birders from all over the world here. The hummingbirds that come to the... More

This nature lodge is one of a kind. We traveled as a family, and while we love guided hikes and naturalist talks....we were not quite prepared for the ardent nature of bird watching practiced by most of the guests at this hotel. This is a lodge for a particular, bird loving type of traveler....one rarely encountered outside this habitat. The... More

If you are on a self-drive holiday then be warned - the last 10km of the road down to Savegre is very difficult to negotiate, steep, narrow and rough but once there you will be rewarded with a first class establishment. The rooms are beautifully appointed and surrounded by the most amazing gardens - teeming with birdlife. You need to... More

This is a lovely hotel in a wonderful setting. The staff are very helpful and the cabins very comfortable. The only thing letting it down is the restaurant - if the through put is too great to cope with a la carte then it would be so easy to improve the food delivery - come on management this deserves to... After reading the reviews on TripAdvisor, I sent out an exploratory inquiry to Savegre.com and I got a prompt reply from Felipe Chacon. I finalized arrangements and the hotel promised an airport transfer, meals and a room. All things went well. Our driver, Alexander, was punctual and although the drive was long (2.5 hours from SJO airport), it was all... More

This was our second visit to the area and we would recommend this hotel highly. The last time we stayed at the Trogon lodge which was nice but Savegre Hotel is nicer in my opinion. The grounds are beautiful and the rooms are very nice. It is a serene landscape with epic birding. The lodge organizes fantastic birding tours with... More

We stayed here for two nights on an organised bird watching tour of Costa Rica. The accomodation is in bungalows which range around beautiful gardens. Each room is a very good size and has a well appointed en-suite. The trails available from here are some of the best we found during our holiday, some are steep but there is transport... More

We drove to Savegre Hotel on a dark and rainy evening. Take it slow, the road is very steep with many back switches. Woke up in Paradise. This property's gardens are full of birds and tropical flowers. Well maintained bungalow style accommodations, clean and comfortable. Don't stay indoors, venture into the pristine jungle and well maintained and marked trails. Bring... More
