People who visit San Gerardo de Dota , are mostly there because they want to see the quetzals and hummingbirds. And you do see them near the avocado trees. The hotel lies in the middle of the valley : nice rooms , friendly staff , very good guides. Restaurant is more than OK , although some variation in the buffets... More

Our hotel was closed therefore we have got this hotel Recommendation by chance but it was really nice place and we would like to spend more night there. Nice and big rooms with fire place. The breakfast buffet was excellent. Nice and well organized garden too

The rooms were newly redone and the grounds lush and varied with flowers and an abundance of humming birds and other species of birds. This was our last stay for tw I nights before returning home and it was a perfect way to end our 16 day tour of CR. quiet, relaxing and great meals to boot!!

I loved San Gerardo and the area. Beautiful area with great walks and great birds. We saw quetzal before we got to the hotel. Our bird guide Melvin Fernandez is thoroughly recommended. Watch out for dodgy 'guides' wandering around the grounds offering their services though. There are some good trails on the grounds but they're tough walking even coming downhill.... More

I went to Savegre Hotel a while back and just got around to writing this review. Not that it's a terrible place to stay, but it's not worth the high prices you pay to stay here. First off, the food I have to admit was delicious and not too expensive considering how expensive Costa Rica is. Some of the drinks... More

Thanks for taking your time to share your experience at our hotel. Before continue, I must tell this is a nitpick review based only on the $50.00 charge for the round trip transportation from the Pan-American highway detour to the hotel and It is evident this review is an exception to the rule I encourage the readers to compare this... A charming location, with lush gardens, small cabins that are equiped with chimneys and candlelit bathtub. The staff is friendly and the hotel hosts a number of activities, from hiking, horseback, birdwatching and more. I recommend coming back.

Beautiful. Service is excellent. I hear its family run: WELL DONE FAMILY! The bar's happy hour (4-6pm) is the crowdest place. I just gave 5 stars and I don't give that lightly... this place is gorgeous. Come visit them.

Savegre has updated their rooms, with fireplaces, a small sitting room and lots of space. This was our third stay here and we never tire of the beautiful gardens, bussing with hummingbirds and other tropical birds. We are still in the jungle here, but at 7000 feet the weather is cool and dry (except when it rains). There are miles... More

Jewel of a place to stay. Eco-conscious. I loved the large, clean rooms, the beautiful surroundings, the wonderful food. The staff was so friendly and helpful. Caters to birders and naturalists with several on-sight trails. Also saw at least a dozen different varieties of hummingbirds at the table side feeders. Serene atmosphere throughout.
