I unfortunately was not able to stay here, however, the service I received when considering a booking was exceptional. These are incredibly helpful, kind and honest people and I hope to stay sometime in future!

The past two years I have stayed at Quetzal Valley Cabins in San Gerardo de Dota. As a birdwatcher I could not ask for better accommodations. Outside my door I could easily find almost every highland specialty I wanted. Flame-colored Tanagers and Flame-throated Warblers, Large-footed, Yellow-thighed, and Peg-billed Finches, Black-billed and Ruddy-capped Nightingale Thrushes, and Sooty Robins are only a... More

We stayed at Quetzal Valley Cabins for two nights at the end of January. Everybody we met there, Miriam, Liliana, Alex and Nelson were very friendly and helpful, though communication was not always easy as our Spanish is weak/non-existent and though Liliana’s English is reasonable and Alex’s is very good, Miriam and Nelson speak no English. We had the cabin... More

My wife, son, and I spent two nights in Cabin 4 last week, and had a wonderful visit. Cabins are in beautiful location close to head of the valley, with amazing views toward both valley and surrounding peaks. Area is cool at night, but we expected that - Cabin 4 was comfortable & cozy with a small electric fireplace and... More

A great place to spend a long weekend; great view from every place, cosy cabins; nice and comfortable beds; great attention by the owners. Specially good of you are into hiking. It is a place that I will definitely be coming back to relax. If you have the chance, bring a telescope, on a clear night it should be great.... More

Spent 3 nights in a cabin for 6. Was very cosy, clean and totally private. Hot shower. Excellent bird watching right off the deck or on the nearby trail. Close to Miriam's restaurant for home cooked meals.

San Gerardo by itself is a pretty nice place. You get to watch different bird species and to watch the sky full of stars during the night. If you want to relax in a mountain paradise, this is the place! The cabins are really nice and cozy. Even if the place is cold, you will be nice and warm within... More

Excellent choice for lodging in San Gerardo, affordable with wonderful scenery views and quiet ambiance. The rooms are very comfortable, and the place has its own trail for hiking through the oak forest. Peace and nature are the main ingredients of this place.

Stayed in one of the cabins for a night and was very pleased with the quality. The valley gets very cold at night but the cabin was equipped with a fake fireplace on the first floor and plenty of extra blankets for the 6 beds in the cabin. The cabin is also equipped with a kitchen which is very convenient... More

We rented here based entirely on TripAdvisor reviews, ie #1 specialty lodging in San Gerardo. I'm mystified. Although the location is fantastic, the accommodations were like what I would expect at Boy Scout camp, although Boy Scout camp probably has working showers, and Quetzal Valley Cabins does not. We pointed out to the manager that water barely dripped out of... More

This report borders on the ludicrous and we wonder who was smoking what, the reporter being from Denver may give a clue. The person reserved out best and newest cabin (No. 4) that is fully insulated. The low pressure in the shower was due to a slightly plugged shower head and we have in excess of 1000 gal per minute... More
