Stayed in one of the cabins for a night and was very pleased with the quality. The valley gets very cold at night but the cabin was equipped with a fake fireplace on the first floor and plenty of extra blankets for the 6 beds in the cabin. The cabin is also equipped with a kitchen which is very convenient... More

We rented here based entirely on TripAdvisor reviews, ie #1 specialty lodging in San Gerardo. I'm mystified. Although the location is fantastic, the accommodations were like what I would expect at Boy Scout camp, although Boy Scout camp probably has working showers, and Quetzal Valley Cabins does not. We pointed out to the manager that water barely dripped out of... More

Fantastic Quetzal & other bird findings.(Silky Flycatchers) Beautiful scenery. Spacious cabin. A bit chilly at night , so go prepared . On clear nights the sky is unreal. Great mountain scenery. Friendly service . Good food nearby. But there is a full kitchen if you want to cook your own. Mirian's for breakfast was great. Lots of birds. There is... More

I stayed with my family in a 2 bedroom cabin. The unit had full kitchen, living room with large flat screen TV where we shared the pictures taken during the day. The is no cable but there is a DVD player and an HDMI cable to plug in any device you may bring. The cabin is all wood, very new... More

Yes, it was warmest stay during our entire 13 day trip. Of course, not in the sense of temperature (it was bitterly cold at night, but we were provided with heating and blankets) but in the sense of hospitality and warmth of the hosts. The cabin was impeccably clean and nice, the view just astonishing as the walk through beautiful... More

Great mountain environment. Beautiful rustic cabins. Friendly people. Great photo opportunities. It is cool and it is good to have warm clothing. Nearby restaurants are inexpensive and good. Fresh trout is available at most places. There are waterfalls, and a stream runs through the property. There are miles of great hiking trails so bring good shoes.

I don't know where to begin, but I do know that I highly recommend Cabinas El Quetzal in San Gerardo de Dota! Their food, accommodations, and service are top-notch. Prices here are much lower than other pricey places in this town. Two can stay in a cabin with 3 meals included per day for $130 a night for both. The... More

I believe Amy stayed at another place and not Quetzal Valley Cabins. Our prices are less than half what she paid including meals and our cabins have heaters and are the warmest and greenest in the San Gerardo as we have our own hydroelectric plant and even export some electricity. More

There are many lodging options for the traveler staying in San Gerado de Dota. I can't believe my good fortune at finding Quetzal Valley. In my opinion this is THE NUMBER ONE best place to stay if you are looking for gorgeous views, privacy, and a quiet location to discover the natural wonders of the area. As a birder and... More

We stayed 3 nights and enjoyed every moment. The cabin was perfect and the views spectacular. We had been to San Gerardo in January and stayed at a much more expensive lodge but our stay at Quetzal Valley was much more enjoyable. Breakfasts and evening meals were taken at Miriams where the food and service is very good, As birdwatchers... More

I booked my 2 night stay in Quetzal Valley because of what a read from other travelers that visited the place. It was exactly what I read and more. The cabinas have a great view of the mountains in front, and a nice porch where you sit and talk and have a hot chocolate while you see the clouds go around... More
